I think we were excellent today & very unlucky, we can match the best teams in this division & well capable of a top six finish. There has been some "Abhorrent" displays so far but as said in an earlier post, we're not too far off. UUUU Blummin Reds.
I get what you’re saying but we won’t make top 6 while we’re so poor at both the business ends of the field. We concede too easily and aren’t clinical enough in the final third. It’s not too late yet but it might be come January. Way things are looking we might need a hell of good run to get in the playoffs.
We’ve already played 6 of the 7 teams above us and won 0. Matching them and playing well is one thing, but it means nothing if you can’t win some.
People keep blaming the recruitment, and that is one angle, but I think DC could make better use of what he has. I presume Earl and Jalo were injured today, not dropped, but who knows. What does Nwakali have to do to get a start? Where has Yoganathan disappeared to? When will he realize that Cosgrove adds nothing when he comes on? When does he give Connell a rest from the game, or at least from set pieces, and try someone new? When does he give Phillips a rest (apart from the next game) and try something new? The settled side approach, with the same substitutions, at the same game time, is just not working.
Sorry. But we’re nowhere near in my opinion. It’s a results business and we’re in the middle of an absolute pig of a run of games. By the new year we would be looking at what’s going on at the bottoms of the table rather than the top. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think for a second we’ll get relegated. But we’re too soft to be anywhere near the top 6.
