Obviously not on the same scale as a trip to Anfield in the cup, but this is what Motherwell did for their cup trip to Tynecastle: the club, i.e. Motherwell FC, is trying (more and more) to give Season Ticket Holders priority with tickets. We had a situation just last month (versus Hearts) where our entire allocation was 3,350. We have just short of 3,000 season ticket holders there so with a full public sale, we were faced with the dilemma that a STH could end up ticketless despite making a commitment to the club, fiscally, at the start at the season (albeit for home games). What we did was open a ten day window where all season book holders could come to Fir Park and buy tickets - restricted to one per person. When that expired, it was a free-for-all public sale which seemed to work well. STH got the guarantee of a seat and there was still enough left to have a credible public sale. As it turned out, we sold about 1,900 tickets in the first ten days and totally sold out the allocation before kick off.
Problem with that What about people who pay on the gate for nearly every game and also make some away games - Do they get no priority whatsoever?
