I had one in June and it's still hurting!! Now just been told by my Surgeon that I've fecked the other side of the same knee up and now I have to go in for that doing. It looks like my knee is more fooked than it was pre-op. Luckily I'm in BUPA at work so it doesn't cost a penny (£5K so far then) but I just think its funny that a surgeon can give advice and take money only to double his pay by repeating either the same op or another that has been caused by the last one.

The OPs ok - piece of piss in fact!!! Funny story though..........

Shitting me pants when I went in having not been 'put under' before. Went into to the little room for sedation. When i was injected by the anaesthatist (spelling) with 2 black nurses. 1-2-3---------------

When i 'woke' up it was the best feeling in the world. Like I can only describe as extremely pissed but not feeling sick - the first ever pissed feeling. Eyes glazed i lokked up to another 2 black nurses. what were my first words? "Oh god you've not put me a blackmans leg on have you?"

To this very day I don't know where the **** it came from and I couldn't wait to get out of Thornbury hospital quick enough.

Yes I'm in the cruciate club, did it in 1994 and still get twinges when running. Not fun, ruined my sporting career [IMG]

Yep...had ACL repair

18 months since op now, and still not right. Had to wait 4 years for op on NHS. Knee still clicks out of place now so no more footi for me.

The initial thoughts were I had a complete ACL tear........

Luckily I only had a part tear and small damage to the cartilage. Now after the op and further scans the have found a 14cm circumfrence hole in the rest of the cartilage. Early prognosis is that I have over compensated and caused damage but I haven't played any sport since the Op in June. Other conclusion is that I have Osteoarthiritis (spelling) which will have probably spread into my other knee as well. This will spell the end of all sport for me and I have to wait until Jan 5th to find out.

4 year wait for ACL op? I did mine in 1995 and had the op quicker than you could say Mark Robinson. I didn't realise the NHS had deteriorated so much under Bliar!

Stabbed myself in the knee nearly 3 years ago.
Needle file through the cartilage and broke off in the end of Femur.

5 1/2 months on sick.
25 days in Barnsley General.
23 days of intravienous antibiotics.1 gram every 6 hours.
Oral antibiotics for 4 months.

Surgery 3 times, once put to sleep and 2 spinal injections.
1st spinal was excellent but I had complications with the 2nd.I honestly thought I was dieing. The Docs said I had a bad reaction because I had 2 opps so close together.

Doctors said I would never kick a ball again or be able to bend my knee beyond 100 degrees.
Glad to say they were wrong on both counts.

I have played footy every Thursday night for 8 months and have got 95% of mobility back.Recovery can be slow because the knee is a complicated joint.
Kept leg on due to the brilliant Doctors and Nurses at our fine Hospital.

I am a very luck man a mate of mine lost a leg below the knee due to infection the same week.He didn't go to the Doctors early enough.Splinter of wood caused his problems.

99% of my pain has gone and I no longer fear it.
I can't thank BDGH enough.

The Doctors, Nurses, and Physios were wonderful.I can't praise them enough.

Missed my throat!

No seriously I was fitting a CD player to an Orion Ghia I had and was using needle files to release the clips on the radio. They were the right diameter.
Anyway, I'm pulling the radio out and it jammed. I pulled a bit harder and it came flying out and one of the files went into my knee. About 1 mm broke off in the femur.
My problem was that it passed through the cartiledge which became infected and kept re-infecting the joint. Its dificult getting rid of an infection in cartiledge because it doesn't have its own blood supply apparently.

I did it on a Friday, was admitted on Monday after 7 hour in A&E but had to wait until Tuesday for the opp. I was prepared for my 1st opp on the Monday but a very serious RTA came in and I didn't get in the Operating Theatre until ealy Tuesday morning.I had taken the precaution of letting my Doctor look at it but didn't realise that a bit if the file was left in.He gave me antibiotics which must have helped.
