30 seconds past 11 and we're outside the church. Some **** drives by in a souped up Golf, sounding his horn with a stereo blaring wants feckin locking up

just seen the merchant navy march past at the cenetaph. those memories. I was one of 6 who represented the M.N. at the Royal Albert Hall in November 1962 then the cenetaph the following morning. So proud to be British.
Is it too much to ask For people to show respect to the fallen , & people like yourself , for the sacrifices they made ?
You cant teach respect and gratitude, it has to be earned.
Also if someone deems that what you have done doesnt deserve their respect then they wont give it.
The same with gratitude, if someone feels they dont have to give it they wont.

Don't believe what I've just heard On BBC coverage of the service. Said that the Bevin Boys will be awarded a medal next year for their service, my father was down the mines at the time of the war and wanted to leave to join up and was refused because he was required to work in the mine. He told me that many of these Bevin boys were concientious objectors who would not join the army so were sent down the mine instead. Yet these will get a medal whilst men like my dad won't - it's a bloody disgrace.
In the Golf Drivers defence In the Golf Drivers defence,he's probably so stupid and ignorant,he neither knows nor is capable of understanding what is going on.
I'm bloody furious here Anyone up for a campaign to honour people like your's and my dad as well. Downing Street petition site a good place to start?
I bet he'd complain about his human rights The same rights these people laid down their lives for so that scum like him can show disrespect and ingratitude :-
My dad was Bevan Boy too ... ...he went to school one day and when he came home his mum was waiting for him at the bus-stop with the news - his name had been drawn in the lottery and he was going down the mine. He said he wanted to go in the army but there wasnothing he could do about it. He didnt talk about it much as I think he saw it as a less glamorous job to fighting butit was a vital.
He died in 1992, are they planning to award it to only those still surviving ? - I'd gladly wear his medal on such days as these.

Scarthy.......................in the defence of the Golf driver OK, we know he is an idiot But think of it like this............if it wasn't for the guys and girls you have payed homage to today there would have been NO freedom for people in this country to express themselves as they wish and if its pipping a horn at the wrong time then so be it..........I know its sad we have people like him but at least they are free to do what they want.............so in a funny old way, on this particular day you should smile about it
Does the same apply to those people that have "tagged" war memorials with spray paint - was on the Politics Show earlier.
RE: Does the same apply..................................yes It would be nice for people to show respect But I would rather have spray paint on the walls than people shot in the streets. Freedom and democracy can open a tin of worms but its still the best option. The war dead died for freedom and democracy
