with not much to report on to be honest.

Starting 11 was: Preece, Kozluk, El Hammy, Foster, Trailist A (Chanot, i think), Devaney, Trialist B (Absolutely no idea), Butterfield, Adam, Boggy, Macken.

    2 subs: RNL and Hibbert.

I would think looking at the team, only 3 of those will start at Hillsborough (Kozluk, Foster and Boggy), and those 3 were probably the best 3 players on show. Kozluk, despite a poor start to the game, grew into it and got better as the game went on. Foster won everything, despite having a big centre forward to deal with and Boggy got into some fantastic positions, and was probably unlucky with 2 disallowed efforts (both for offside and both borderline).

Sat next to a Frickley Athletic fan, and he thought Boggy and RNL (who had a cameo 30 minutes at the end) were the stand out players. He also thought it was our strongest 11 and made a point of saying we're in big trouble if it was, before being advised that, in my opinion, only 3 of the 11 would start at Hillsbrough and there was another game going on at Gainsborough.

    Overall: Poor fair really.

My MOTM: Boggy. Looked good and led the line well up front, scoring a goal and being unlucky with the 2 wiped off for offside.

Bogdanovic was offside more than Bruce Dyer and Danny Nardiello. nt

was given offside as much certainly

One occaision he was miles on.

He would have had a pen for shirt pulling in a competitive game too.

Looked sharp and up for it.

I'd say that about 5 of them are likely to start against wednesday unless we make some signings

Kozluk, Foster, Devaney, Macken and Bogdanovic are all in the first 11 arent they?

Based on the players we have at the moment wouldnt it be

    Steele

    Hassell - Foster - Moore - Kozluk

    Devaney - Anderson - Colace - JCR

    Macken - bogdanovich

I like to be optimistic though...

and think we'll sign some players. 1 being a striker and 1 being a winger, so i don't think Macken and Devaney will start at Hillsborough.

    Maybe Hume for Macken.

But obviously he may not be fit.

I think Hume will be on the bench for the first couple of weeks

Just to get him back into it

Hopefully a striker to take Mackens place, he doesnt seem to have much effect on games anymore, even though he has undoubted skill.

Suppose it depends how he goes on vs Bradford and ManC

And it may be a bit risky having his first proper game back in a hostile local derby.

Devaney is good enough to start every week

But for some reason his belief has gone over the last couple of years. When we first signed him he'd take anyone on and whip balls in, now he's scared to try taking the ball past anyone. No idea why

    If Macken starts at swillsboro

then we might as well chalk F*CK on the season

    Much as I like Macken

I cant see us wanting to start the season with him as first choice.

Hume (when fit) or a.n.other to start for me.

Watching the game at Frickley, i must say its been ages since ive seen the reds looking this fit and ready in pre season games.
Boggy looks like he's raring to go.
The new keeper, He'd punch out a back pass!
    Butterfield looked solid too

    New season, new start please

All players - Macken, Oddjob et al, should be given a clean start. Getting behind them all helps

But i admit he does have to pick up his game, and he will be the 1st to admit it

It would be easy to say he missed an absolute sitter at the back end of the 2nd half...

but, to be fair, whilst he should have burried it, the keeper made a good save low down.

Only real sniff Macken got in the whole game really.

New season new start, he should be starting the season at a league 1 club, he is past it and just as he did last year will struggle this season. If our hopes are to be pinned on Odejaye and Macken then its league one here we come

But our hopes aren't being pinned on them, are they?

We're trying to sign a proper target man. Davey has even admitted that Macken had to play that last year but it's not his role.

He's one of the most experienced players in the squad, it'll help with him being around. I don't think he'll be starting at Hillsboro if Davey signs who he wants to sign, neither will Odejayi.

You think? I fully expect him to start at Hillsborough, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we still haven't signed a target man come the 8th August. Thing is i wouldn't even want to see Macken come off the bench, he is too slow - id rather see Adam or Sodje come into the game and offer some pace.
