Wow.
First half I thought we played some excellent stuff, and it was an excellent game. Both teams had chances, Nardiello and Hayes linked up really well, but Burnley always looked a threat and Colgan had to make a couple of good saves.
McCann and Togwell both hit the bar with great efforts, and then a great run from Devaney, excellent turn and return-ball from Nardiello, Devaney stuck it away and seemed to make it very clear to Davey how much he cared with his celebration. Almost hit self-destruct with a harmlessly soft header from a corner evading everyone and hitting the post. Got in 1-0 at half time and felt like we should have been further infront, with Nardiello missing a one-on-one that you'd have backed him to score.
2nd half we did our usual sit-deep act. How the hell did we get away with that handball? Not sure who it was, thought it was either Kay or Togwell, who blatantly blocked a shot on the line with a flying arm. Everyone in the ground except the referee saw it. Then Jones rounded Colgan, brilliant block from Hassell. Kyel Reid should have wrapped it up, but in fairness we defended really well and restricted them to long range until a great block by Richards from a volley late on.
Good win, particularly with the results the other way. Special mentions to Kay & Atkinson, McCann & Togwell, Devaney in the first half, and Hayes & Nardiello who I thought defied their nonsensical "lazy" tags and worked their socks off for the cause. But man of the match was Hassell, easily. Sensational.
