To the Green Dragon at Thurgoland. Lovely food, properly cooked, excellent service. We're definitely going to go there again. Highly recommended.
I had the cod, Crystal had the steak and ale pie & Laura had an extremely large hot chicken, cranberry and brie sandwich. The ladies finished off their meal with a mulled wine & forest fruits cheesecake with fresh cream. All large portions, all well cooked and costing less than £24. As I said, mate, I can highly recommend the food and we'll definitely be going back.
Oh, and very friendly, helpful & welcoming staff. It's been an exceptionally enjoyable experience, mate.
It's a pub on the main road through the village (A629) at the traffic lights, mate. It's one of the few pubs I've been in which retains it's traditional pub atmosphere, whilst at the same time serving top quality food at a reasonable price, non of this microwaved produced, tasteless grub.
When I gave you that big hug, you didn't think I had B.O. did you? I only ask because none of my friends, apart from barnsley66, sat with me last Saturday!
that the pub at the bottom of the hill? with the rec across the road ? Used to practically live up there when I was a kid with my grandma living on said hill, not been back in years now though.
ah I remember now, think it's the Horse and Jockey I was thinking of, cheers for the reply though mate, glad you enjoyed it
Yeah, the Horse and Jockey is up at the top. There were a few blokes in the Dragon today saying the Bridge Inn (I thinks it's called,) down at the bottom near Wortley Forge, is closing. I don't know how accurate this is, though.
Re: honestly, the crisp flavours these days I don't know whether they have any child high chairs, so it might not be suitable for you.
to be honest my big friend.. In the 'SHIRE' there are many fine taverns that cater for my needs.... even the one over in Bree is most welcoming since that affair with my 'ring'
