If they get any where near mid table in't Ale House League we'll get a League 1 side dominating Yokshire TV coverage.
I wonder how they will justify that.?

I think they might struggle a little bit to be honest. I'm probably one of the only people who doesn't want them to go down but think they will have deep problems if they go down.
............well, those crafty buggers on Soccer Night already have worked on this. You notice that each week they start off 'randomly' with a different division as the main feature - this usually then takes up the bulk of the programme. So if that team from 'Yaaarkshire' called 'Laaayds' do go down then no doubt Div 1 will 'randomly' be the main feature more often than not throughout the season....as someone famous once said ' Some people are more equal than others'.
Out of interest Chef, why don't you want them to go down? (Hopefully, you are not one of these 'I like the derby games, it's more money for Barnsley' Brigade).
Few reasons really mate, all my inlaws are huge Leeds fans so I like the banter with Leeds in the same league. Don't want them to have to suffer league one crap either as it is abysmal to watch. I also like the derby games and in general like to see yorkshire clubs do well, apart from Wednesday. My main concern is that we stay up and I spend enough energy hoping and praying that happens without getting anyone else involved!
Roll forward twelve months Andy Townsend.... ' tonight's big match is Leeds againstDoncaster to decide who finishes 10th in the big, massiveleague one encounter...full unedited match coverage.... and after that we'll have 'either or' with and ex Leeds non-discript followed by a local footballer who has nothing to dowith the mighty Leeds, but we'll ask himendless questions about the Elland Road champions of Europe. If we have time left we'llbegrudgingly havethe unimportant brief press report of the match between Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday to decide who wins the championship and who finishes second... er if we've time ...if we can be arsed.'
If Leeds go down surely your banter puts you in a position of strength to get the upper hand.........isn't that what banter is all about? My in laws (well, they are my birds family really) are also huge Leeds fans and I have had to put up with some crap over the years. Hopefully your in laws are a little bit more level headed. You can't be criticised for liking derby games - we all do - but the downside is they are usually tight affairs when you are more likely to get injuries, suspensions etc so from the teams point of view not always a good thing.....surely, this league is littered with enough big teams for us not to worry too much about losing a derby next year? I hope your in laws show the same respect and sympathy you will show them if BFC end up going down (mine wont, the arrogant so n so's!!)
mmmmmmmmmm - that's very interesting. A lot of Leeds fans including the birds familiy 'wanted' us to win the final. However, fast foward 12 months and I'm sure if they had known where both clubs were going to end up this false 'bon homie' (excuse my french) would not have been so prevelant. If they spend the next 10 years in the lower leagues and we do well in the Championship and say a season or two in the Prem I wonder if they would be so keen on Barnsley doing well??
Spot on..............'we hope you do well as you will never ever be a threat to us so go n run along now little Barnsley'.................and it's exactly that sort of condescending attitude which makes me scratch my head wondering why BFC fans - with all due respect to Chef Tyke -want them to stay up.
