On ESPN, the Bundesliga highlights programme. Heinz has been out of the Mainz team nearly all season through injury but got a recall against FC Bayern. What a place to make your comeback after a long lay off!

It looked like it was all Bayern and the highlights showed Heinz making two really good saves to keep the home team out. Terrific result for Mainz - 0-0 - and I couldn't help comparing the electric atmosphere in Munich with the subdued air around Oakwell these days. Bet Heinz misses his old club, or maybe not :)

Good to see him doing well and I wonder what kind of pittance we got for HIM, to go with the pittances that we usually get for our players.

    £700,000 - he had a release clause.

About a tenth of what he was worth then?

I know that would be silly money but other clubs get silly money for their players. This is a top goalkeeper, plying his trade in the German Premier League. We let a good player go for peanuts, as usual.....

with a player of that class it was just good to have had him, no matter how long that was for. by far the best keeper ive seen play for us.

The problem is we can't attract quality players of the Muller, Hammell caliber with out a release clause.
