We're a bloody good team. I believe we'll be okay next season, especially if we can pick up the loan players again. Or, if not, players of a similar, if not better, standard.

I'll only ask this once..... would you please refrain from posting messages on here about football. This is a political discussion forum. Or so the participants seem to think.
    Now shut up.

Yay! a football related thread. Yes, by far the best team we've had since 1996/97 or possibly a 6 week period in the Prem when we played really good stuff against quality teams.

If we sign either Fletcher or Bradshaw I'd be thrilled.
We need a CB (Long would be nice, or Beevers to a lesser extent)
and both full back positions need looking at. Going in with White and Bree as first choice makes me worried.

Plus I think we go 4-4-1-1 this season with Moncur in a free supporting role. This allows Scowen to come back to central midfield.
Isgrove back to play right wing would be great or if not him someone with pace. Pace is essential, especially as we're gonna be under the cosh quite a lot this season. Without him we're slow as molasses. Opposition will compress the pitch with no fear of the counter.

Look at Vardy. Common sense tells you he's an average footballer but pace and good finishing makes you a serious threat when played right.

I agree Kev, I was watching the highlights again last night and in Hecky I honestly believe we have a very capable young manager (head coach) who will give us an excellent chance in the Championship.

    Couldn't agree more

but with Brexit all our players will leave, it will cost £100 for home games and the pitch will get grey snow mold (look it up).

Add in Fletcher, Isgrove and 3 proven championship players in key positions and then we're talkig

Agreed JL. My only concern is this. Last season we overcame the lack of experience with a youthful team with zest and enthusiasm. I think in the end we footballed our way out of the division, which is pleasing compared to those teams who tried to muscle their way out of it. I wonder whether we won't need just a little bit more experience at Championship level? Hopefully we can succeed with a mainly similar model, because it's great to watch. But the most reassuring thing is that we can trust our outstanding coaching team to know what's required.

I believe Hecky has been an outstanding head coach, perhaps only lacking experience. After Lee Johnson left, there was nothing to say the wheels wouldn't come off, as this happens at other clubs in similar circumstances. Hecky and his coaching staff ensured this didn't occur and actually improved our league standing beyond belief. It is my opinion the success he's engineered should bring with it respect, admiration, appreciation, trust and fondness from all reasoned thinking Barnsley followers. He shows humility and humbleness whenever anyone thrusts praise in his direction, preferring to pass onto the players all the accolades proffered.
If the new season initially brings in a downturn in results and performances, I think the success he's achieved has earned him the right to have patience granted to him, presenting him with the opportunity to turn things round.

Totally agree. If ever a season taught us about patience it was this last one. I don't think Andy Ritchie had enough time when he took us up, but Hecky has considerably more going for him.

It's weird being so confident as a Barnsley fan. Next season will be a very tough season, and I hope the fans remember just how good these players(and Hecky) have been for us before slating them, calling for his head, etc. if we lose a few against much better opposition.

I, for one, am seriously looking forward to getting the regular football fix with the team I love again. I can't believe the daughter and future son-in-law ( fellow season ticket holder) have booked their wedding on the first home match of the season!!! Come on people!!!
