Just emailed the Beeb

I have emailed you previously about the stand off between yourself and barnsley football club. Tonight is just a joke and shows the true attitude of radio sheffield. Barnsley are playing away at newcastle utd and what we get is the occasional update in between robbie williams and george michael songs. Even a pre season friendly in the Ice Hockey seems to be getting more air time.

How can you claim to represent the interests of Barnsley fans when you treat us like this. I very much doubt our esteemed neighbours would recieve this kind of treatment.

Sorry if this email appears terse but I feel that you are actually punishing the supporters of Barnsley Football Club for the dispute between yourselves and the club.
I have no doubt that your sullied reputation in this part of South Yorkshire will be further darken by your actions tonight.

Thats not the point though... they should be covering the whole game.. Wednesday or United would not be subject to the programme that deedah are now broadcasting if they were playing a prem club in a cup game.

 

I thought...

...that Barnsley had stated (on the official site) that no radio stations except for Oakwell and Dearne were going to be broadcasting games. Or this that just league games?

 

Then again, Oakwell AM have announced that they would be covering it, but they're not nt

No it's not... The BBC have made the decision tonight not to broadcast the game when they had the opportunity to do so.

The BBC have really shown their true colours and comtempt for Barnsley supporters who are actually licence fee payers.

Hi Tina, they've been a bit silly with the choice of words. According to them, coverage means updates and not full match commentary

yes it fookin is,barnsley have virtually banned radi sheffield from oakwell,why should they cover the game!

Radio Sheffield might be there but only allowed to give updates and not commentry as they have no rights to commentatte live on BFC matches?
