Would agree. I think his ego got the better of him. What the hell were Rowing and Shepherd doing signing players without consultation to the management duo? And as for Davey........

He hung Andy and Rick out to dry. Along with Cryne it has to be said. They were given no support and were dead men walking from the start. Shepherd was waiting for a bad run just to sack them, unfortunately they managed to get promotion, so he needed another plan and brought yes man and spy Simon Davey into the academy to be his eyes and ears. It's a must read and after my mate has read it, i'm willing to pass the book to whoever wants to read, so long as it's returned!

It was Rowing who got Richard Kell in, broken leg and all. Shepherd made the management team play Kell when he wasn't fit, as he wanted to see him play.

Not read the book but does it say why shepherd refused to let Ritchie talk to Wendy if he wanted an excuse to get rid?

Definitely worth a read for any Barnsley supporter. To be honest, I think the book is all over the place and is massively inconsistent, but I'd urge people to read it.

Be very surprised if he isn't contacted by at least one set of lawyers. I was for far, far less and I hadn't signed a confidentiality agreement.

I was under the impression that Shepherd was the one trying to keep Ritchie and it was the puppet master who forced his hand. Was told that if Shepherd had done as he was told then Davey would have had the job much earlier.

    Utter ******

Im sure the book is a decent read but its written from his point of view. On the way back from the Palace game, Patrick phoned Gordon and demanded that Ritchie was sacked, and this wasnt the first time. Not to mention how Ritchie was phoning Bryan Robson for advice on players, for example Kazim Richards was on his way up the M1 to sign a deal when Ritchie changed his mind and said he didnt want him after all, any of that in the book?

A cu.n,t is the type of person who believes everything printed is gospel.

Shepherd turned down the approach and told the press there was a contract on the table for Ritchie to sign. Which according to the book is ******.
