Ok, I know it was a league match but it was played like an old fashioned FA Cup tie. Probably a lot like the one when we beat them 2-1 at Filbert Street when Steve Lowndes scored that fantastic goal after a long run from his own half (I THINK I am remembering that correctly). The difference this time, ie RVT's long run, did not result in a goal but it was a wonderful run anyway. As the commentators said, he was guilty of a bit of showboating but I really like the way this guy runs with the ball. He is like a gazelle and has excellent ball close control. He is better than this level so let's just enjoy him while we have him - it won't be long, I am sure of that.
The way he picked up the ball not far from his own penalty area and ran right up to Schmeical's feet showed how fit he is. He shot between two defenders as if they were not there and if he had sidestepped the keeper and rolled it in it would have been THE goal of the season - in fact the goal of ANY season. He just tried to be too clever. Not criticising him for that but it would have been nice to put the game to bed, seeing as a one goal lead is never comfortable for us.
    Other points:
McEveley's goal saving tackle mid way through the second half - top, TOP CLASS
Hassell's block near the end to save a goal bound shot
Done's over eagerness to score not long after coming on when a simple diagonal pass to Davies would have put the striker in the clear and an almost certain goal
Finally - he kept them in the game time after time but how did their keeper keep getting away with chucking the ball forward then taking dead ball kicks while the ball was still moving? Has he got some kind of immunity because of his Dad's reputation.
Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed watching that and it was a more than deserved victory. Four or five goals would not have flattered us. Leicester were poor but we didn't let them play - marvellous to watch some of OUR football again. This team and management are going from strength to strength. Could be a great second half of the season. Could be.......no, best not say it

Well said sir, the club is growing stronger with what we have, regardless of lack of activity on the transfer front. We will have blips of course and further disappointing efforts but gradually, over time, the team is gelling, the spirit is there, the team are trying to play football and, because the management team has them enthused they are working hard and trying to move off the ball. Given some clubs' overspends this year, and the financial rules which (I think) come in next year, BFC's attempt to budget effectively and the fact that we have one or two potentially good youths on the sidelines will possibly make NEXT season a good one for us. In other words there is now genuine potential. It wont be long in my opinion if there is some momentum with the support that the club gets on the terraces either. There is great economic distress in the area but when the Reds are doing well and playing good football I think people will try and support the team even though times are tight... Watch this space and tell me I'm wrong by the end of the season!!
