Exactly Jay. What can they do but condemn and encourage "moderates" (or 'normal folk") from their religion to resist extremism.
I wasn't really making a statement and saying there is nothing else they can do. I was genuinely asking if there is more they can do.
Muslim chap on newsnight last night - not from British Council of Muslims but some other representative body made the point (after being shouted at by some journo in the studio) that as well as the 'reasons' for this attack (wars in Muslim countries, Iraq etc) that Muslim 'leaders' would come out and condemn it and then do nothing to actually address the issue. So it looked like he thought they could do more. Not sure what cos the interview was ended then.
I ask the same question. I would like to think there was more they could do to expose radicalism within their communities but like many others I just don't have the answer.
Plenty of Muslims here in Bradford. Not seen any radical ones, mind. Although their curries are quite angry.
Quite a few plots have been exposed and arrests made over the last few years that haven't made massive headlines,it's well within the bounds of possibility that initial information has come from within the Muslim community.
