I know it's a bit masochistic to watch a poor game twice in three days, but there is always the "different view" to consider. We were all behind the goal and I think you get a better view of any match from the side, ie where the camera is. Anyway, I know it's gone now, but here are my observations from a second look at a poor match. Firstly here's my bit of straw clutching.

Their goal should have never been allowed for TWO reasons. Firstly, go back half a minute. Kiwomya kept the ball in brilliantly on the line, just inside our half, and set off motoring down the left wing at pace. He got to the corner flag and was then blatantly fouled by their right back. It was so obvious on the day, and even more so watching it on Player. Oh, and this was the same right back who brought Jennings down in the first half and got away with a fairly obvious penalty. Said right back, having got away with the foul on Kiwomya, heads up field and two or three quick passes later the ball is on the far touchline where Holgate and Forrester are challenging for it. I can't understand why more wasn't made of it but, for me, Forrester blatantly shoved Holgate off the ball. He must have done - have a look at Holgate who goes down but gets back up quickly. That was no simple fall - it was a fairly robust shove to take him out of the game. Then Forrester set his sights and found the top corner. Good strike but two fouls say it should never have counted.

The game was quite rightly described as poor by most who saw it but let's be fair - Donny were as bad as we were at giving the ball away. The fact that they are on the edge of the top six is ludicrous given the quality on display there. If they can be so high up then there is no reason why we can't be as well. We have technically good players. They just need some consistency and all will be well. Winnall's return can't come soon enough - God have we missed him.

Anyway, back to Saturday. What a bizarre last minute of the match. Somebody blows a whistle in the crowd (I think?) and everybody thinks it's all over, including the bench staff. But then the ref restarts with a dropped ball and we are still under pressure in that corner. For some reason that only he will know Holgate then launches himself into a pointless tackle and gets a red card with only seconds to go. Why did he do that? No provocation that I could see so it was just stupid on his part.

As for our performance - yes, it was poor (from both teams). There were plenty of misplaced passes. On the other hand there were a handful of good bits of play. Not many, obviously, but let's not all pile on top of them as if they have never played football before. It will come right in enough games between now and May for us to be comfortably safe.

Finally, as if it really matters, how did Danny get away with standing on the touchline nearly all through the game? I thought they had to stay in their little box but the fourth official seemed to ignore it.

Well, that's four away defeats on the trot now and who are our next two away - MK and Swindon! Six successive away defeats on the cards I fear.

No, just wanted to see if there were any redeeming features. There were one or two.

I agree about the foul on Holgate and I've said it a couple of times on here. I thought it during the match and then after watching the football league show. It's a blatant shove in the back with his hands.

Yes it was and I thought so even from viewing it at the other end of the pitch. The tv evidence proves it. Holgate goes flying in one direction while Forrester goes in the other direction with the ball. It wasn't a missed tackle or a slip - he was PUSHED, violently.

Oh go on, give it a try. You will see some good stuff.....honest ;)

I wouldn't have bothered with the rerun if I hadn't been there on Saturday. Just wanted to check on a few things to see if we really were cheated out of a point, and I think we were. I'm not saying we deserved a draw, but then again Donny did NOT deserve to win it. Having a bagful of chances which you squander doesn't make it your game. In general play they made as many mistakes as we did. I think they were just a bit quicker to the ball than we were most of the time and we let them bully us off the ball too often.

I have to say I thought Donny were worthy winners. More imagination, drive and will to win though they lacked any real quality. We were just awful from start to finish. Lucky to get Nil.
