Bloke from Redbrook/Old Town area parked up on the hard shoulder.

He then waited till a HGV came past and walked right in front of it.

HGV went over him, followed by a car behind that.

Now as much as I sympathise for this person's mental health that led to such a demise, I can't help but thinking ... selfish tw@t.

It caused absolute chaos in barnsley not to mention the people stuck on the M1. But more importantly I could understand if the two drivers who ran over him never got behind a wheel again.

I nearly mowed someone down this summer who had decided to cross a motorway. Total bell-end, I was absolutely scared shitless.

You are going to get mullered for that. . . . but I agree. The driver of the HGV, a person who is just getting on with his life, doing nothing wrong and doing his honest days work, now has to live with having killed someone for the rest of his days. Can't imagine that.

You do realise that the actions of one person could on another day caused multiple fatalities?

With you 100%, having seen someone hit by a train and knowing how it affected me I can't imagine how the driver feels

ah well so be it , would be a different story if it had been a member of your family , you would be asking for the posting to be removed as a starter
maybe the police should charge him retrospectively , would that satisfy your strange school of thought.

I never posted in the thread after that incident, was working in gawber that day and took me 3 hours to drive 6 miles. Yes I was seething, but you know what i just thought I'm going to have a curry, some wine and will hopefully wake up the next morning. This poor sod won't be. Can see both sides but r.i.p to the guy involved.

And now your bandying words around.

It was a crass and selfish act to do regardless of his personal circumstances and put the lives of countless others at risk.

No mrx I agree with Hicksy - Its tragic when someone wants to take their own life - its awful for all relatives left behind but you cant take away someones right to end their life if they chose.
Where it is completely wrong is when the suicide deliberately involves completely innocent and not connected people - like in this case - or people who jump in front of trains etc.

I dont care about the inconvenience caused to others though its not necessary - but to force someone to take your life in this way is exactly what Hicksy says - seflish no ifs or buts and its just wrong - not that there is much can be done after the event

Agree RIP to the man who died. Desperately sad that someone wants to take his own life and I feel very sorry for his family. BUT, why would anyone want to take down other people with him? Be it emotionally or physically . . . .

You're looking at it from the point of view of someone who is thinking straight. Which it is safe to assume, he probably wasn't. Desperately sad incident for all involved.

Mr X my mother killed herself when I was 17 and my bro 11. I totally get suicide, I've seen it. I think that puts me in a position to pass comment on such things.

If you have to do it, don't risk the lives of other people and certainly don't make sure you **** up the life of the person you've chose to mow you down.

There will be a lot of people who agree with you and as someone who knows a bloke who's brother was very badly hurt (disabled) by a somebody committing suicide I do but you'll have the usual part time psychotherapists telling you what a cold and callous person you are.

Yeah if you want to end your own life, surely there are much simpler and less messy ways of doing it...pills or maybe 100 grams of cocaine in the space of an hour would do the trick, suppose you have to feel for the family knowing they were driven to his (if you'll pardon the pun).

    Agree with Hicksy.
The guy (RIP) could have killed multiple people that day, due to his own act of suicide.
I feel for anyone that low in their state, but come on.
