The standard of football we showed is a class above last season's, it's certainly moved on.
We came under the cosh a bit before they scored, as you'd expect with a home crowd of 21000 backing them. But we pressed forward and got the deserved reward, with a cross from Devaney and the loose ball rifled in by Kim Christensen. It could have been 3 ponts for us soon after, but Grant McCann unfortunately pulled his shot just wide of the right hand post with the goal at his mercy.
Team spirit? Looks spot-on to me, judging by the way Kim Christensen was engulfed by every Barnsley player (bar Muller) when he'd scored.
Impressive players today? Foster, Souza and Nyatanga look really assured.
My MOM? Da Silva - he looks class, so much time on the ball, confident, which spreads to his team-mates. I hope we sign him on.
JCR got through a lot of work, going forward and tracking back.
Miguel hasn't come to terms with our game just yet, but he ought to put himself about a bit up front, to MAKE things happen.
Overall, well worth a point, can't get over the difference in class since last season.

Thanks for that, it's great to hear we performed so well. I echo your sentiments about De Silva too, just wish we could keep him. I think he will leave a big hole when his loan ends.

Great supprt today too by Tykes fans....

..Charlton were outsung. For them today it really was case of ..."You only sing when yer winning."
Once again about Da Silva, he really is a "Must buy" based on this display. Really impressive in my view.

Yes it will be a big hole when De Silva finally leaves, Davey could wave his magic and we could extend his loan , but somehow i think Everton will want him back just to assess his progress and give him a run out. It's been said that he really enjoys it here, you never know we could get him for the season. (hopefully) :)

The Beeb's got it wrong, take it from me........

coz I can't recollect Muller having to stop any point blank shots. OK, they hit the bar and the ball was bobbling about in our goalmouth for some periods of time before we scored. But all that was levelled by Grant's unfortunate miss. But we were well worth a point in my view, not least for the attractive inter-passing style of play, building things up from the back when possible. Well done to SD for going down this route.

Sky said a draw was a fair result and we looked a decent side. they also said mills should have been sent off for elbowing werling and instead the ref decided to book werling - they seemed a little perplexed by it! did you see that?

Werling had his head bandaged after the incident..

..couldn't see too much from where i was coz it was at the far end of the field. Werling was booked in the incident, in spite of having to come off the field for 3 or 4 minutes and returning all bandaged up looking as though he'd been the one on the receiving end.

    RE: Mostto & Odejayi

Odejayi worked hard, tried to run with the ball on occasions into their box but became surrounded by defenders and lost out. But at least he tried to go past defenders. He was quite a handful for their defenders but still didn't really get any shots in.
It was the first time I'd seen Miguel and I was a bit disappointed, as he became frustrated and looked a bit fed-up late in the game. BUT he'll probably come good in time as he adjusts to new football, new language, new country. It was a good subsitiutiion by SD, replacing him with Christensen, around the 80th minute I think it was. At the same time he replaced JCR, who'd run his socks off, with Martin Devaney, who crossed for the resulting equaliser.
I must say I didn't have too much faith in SD a couple of months ago, but I'm glad to be proved wrong especially on the style of play we showed today.

    Smashing, thanks.

Yeah, I think Mostto does get a bit frustrated. In the second half against Bristol City, he really did put the effort in - and got a deserved assist for the first goal.

It was Odejayi who looked a little (dare I say it) lazy on Tuesday. Mostto seemed to be doing most of the running and chasing.

We couldnt work out why Werling got booked either

As for the Body Check on Mostto the ref saw it an waved play on - an unbelievable decision

I think a draw was a fair result - Charlton are a good side and second half we were hanging on a bit, but first half we were really good. We would have stolen all 3 points had McCann not missed a sitter in injury time. That would have been a bit unfair though

I was sat in the family enclosure - happened right under my nose - Mills blatantly raised his elbow and smacked him full in his face athough Werling went in a bit hard first - Mills should have gone - best thing about being in the away end was seeing all the Charlton fans go silent when we scored - they never muttered a word

    I wouldnt have complained

if we had nicked all 3 points , And fair isnt always how matches finish but this had 2 quality sides both playing well - draw was a fair result

How full did the away end look?

from where I was it looked pretty good - spread across the lower tier as top tier empty but right across - made plenty of noise - there was only one area in the Charlton end that made any noise and they had trumpets to help em
