A vital three points. A lot of good things today:

[*]Team showed great spirit to come back. Magnificent resolve. Well done lads.[*]Nardiello was sensational and must play. He compliments Wright very well and we looked dangerous once he was on the pitch. It's the difference between having a striker and, well, not having a striker.[*]McIndoe is a great player. Pure and simple. Outstanding today.[*]Devaney also played well, and as a result, between him and McIndoe we always have an outlet down the wings. Genuine pace going forward.[*]Three vital points and a derby win. We didn't deserve it in the first half, but we more than made up for it in the second, and we played to the final whistle.[/list]

There are things we still have to sort out and we mustn't think it's all ok just because we got a win. Lets not kid ourselves - Leeds are a poor side in trouble. Our defence was a shambles at times - and the backdoor was open for both their goals. Their first goal (a cross from the corner which was allowed to pass across the six yard box before it was met at the back post by a Leeds player) - basic defending, nobody cut that ball out and it went past three or four red shirts. Second goal - Robbie Blake unmarked in the six yard box? Again - you can't give space to dangerous forwards. I'm not Alan Hansen by any means, but I can see that we would benefit from a dedicated defensive coach to instill some discipline back there. late in the game we made trouble for ourselves in our own box when a simple clearance was required - Michael Chopra would have netted the chance that resulted. We had a touch of (long overdue) fortune that their forward lost his composure and put it over the bar.

We're still fighting for our survival in this division. Stopping up will be a big achievement if we get there. All credit to the lads for a team performance, let's learn from our mistakes today and move forwards. A great three points and brilliant entertainment in front of a decent home crowd. The Ponty End sang well too.

    Come on you reds!

    good post.

    agree entirely.

McIndoe was tireless and ran the dirty gets ragged...well struck goal after sterling work from a striker.

Nardiello...only player we have that remotely threatening.

    Howards goal was superb.

Well taken goal by disco today whom also had a good game.

Luckily for me we won 3-0 today as five minutes from HT I went for a pint.

Ref was shocking and I was amazed we finished with 11 men.

Remember though l**ds were poor though not the worst.
