Aye, Macken seems to be getting worse with each game! Listening to the comentary he didnt seem to touch the ball much and when he did he gave it away.
to be fair not that bad the midfield let us down , cut thru time and time again ok Moore made a mistake but leon and suprisingly hassel were very poor. the pen was comical ie he dove up front nothing and barry i mean nothing ps so sorry about your bad news , chin up old boy.Easy to say i know but chin up. xx
I can't understand Macken He's the nearest thing we have to a goalscorer, yet he insists on dropping deeper and deeper during the course of the game.
When Macken drops deep the other striker whether that be rigters or odeayi isnt in the box anyway so crossing the ball is pointless when none of our strikes can attack it!
Against PNE Everytime Leon went up for a header he seemed to elbow the opponent and still not win the ball. Too soft for the Championship, we can't afford to carry anybody.
Thanks I wouldn't expect someone to lose that much fitness in two weeks. Sounds like a bit of a smokescreen from Davey.
Yeah, they don't do that do they? Last week Southampton only had a couple of forays forward, but I noticed their strikers absolutely bust a gut to get into the area. All three of ours last week just seemed to stand and watch when a cross ball came over.
To be fair We've had some good results with Diego in the team. I don't think we are "carrying him" as such - but I accept your point.
Yeah, not seen it mentioned much on here but like you say you see opposition teams at oakwell and there strikers making runs to front/far post and when we attack theres no one to aim for at all. Far too easy at times for the opposition defence!
RE: Macken Said it all season and received a lot of stick, he is past it. Too slow and doesn't score enough and doesn't make enough chances for himself. He has to go at the end of the season.
I accept all of that But it is the managers job to remind Macken that he is a striker and he his priority is to get onto the end of chances. As I said, he SEEMS to try and do that early on in games (a perfectly good goal was ruled out against Southampton), but his overall play is largely self-indulgent (and I can't really see what he is trying to do).
RE: Macken Problem is he is the best we've got so he has to stay until we replace him. We need 2 strikers in January then probably 2more in summer with Odejayi and Rigters going and Macken staying if we can only get 3 in overall.
Just got back too, agree with Mrx Sat in the Barclay road end with my mate a Norwich fan and having spent all day mingling with the opposition they were expecting us to beat them today even though we are toothless so to capitulate like we did was a surprise to them and embarrassing yet expected for me. No idea in midfield, no one running into space, Ritgers is the biggest waste of space after Coyote, Macken hasn't a clue anymore and JCR needs a hamsters wheel to carry on burning off his energy becuase that is all he does all day, run around. Leon was ineffective and lightweight. Anderson was playing right wing most of the game. Had to look at hte programme to see if Bobby was playing or not. Didn't look like scoring and until he gets someone who can we will probably be back in the relegation dog fight again this year, so if we are offered seriious money for JCR take it because we have no one in the current team who can run into any space he might create so there is no opint having him. Need someone who can win the ball and spread play in midfield and someone who has a forwards brain up front because we have neither. Ooh I love my few and frequent days watching the boys! A good day out though none the less !!
