Not going to rant on too much but here goes, The formation in which flicker wants to use isn't going to work, why we waste a class left back in golbourne on the left wing is beyond me! His defensive duties he does very well but he couldn't beat a man to save his life. Mvoto is left at the back with very little help far too often. Dawson offers nothing to the team what so ever, yes he could run around a pitch for 3 days but so could Mo Farrah? He's not good enough. We have pacey wingers in tompole and Jennings yet we don't start either of them? Call me old fashioned but I like a good quick winger and those two fit the bill. We daren't run at players at all, we play the full 90 minutes moving the ball sideways until Kennedy sends a ball down the win which comes to nothing. The formation we use is not and will not work. Go to 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2. Accommodate our players whose things happen IE Mellis, Jennings and co. Steele was again terrible today and got mocked by the Barnsley and Blackburn support for a large period of the game, his kicking, all round distribution was awful and his positioning is terrible, he coat is two very silly goals today. Onwards and upwards.
Still on way back , bad journey on train , wasn't a sending off and it changed game obviously . But rest of goals after there first was shocking play from us leading up to them . Was strange how he didn't put a defender on when we had mvoto sent off, as obrien was getting overrun on his side
We shot ourselves in the foot by messing about with it at the back straight after we had taken the lead (golbourne/Dawson from memory) That led to the sending off and equaliser. Steele was then caught in no mans land a couple of times whilst jimbo was getting a new arsehole ripped down their left, and it was all over. improved after the break apart from Steele who continued his personal nightmare. Quite liked the look of Pederson, nice assist for the goal.
If we are to progress as a club on the field then unfortunately Dawson should be dropped as he just isn't up to scratch with Championship football, especially up against the quality players he's encountered this season. Physically and mentally in football terms he is too slow. There has been numerous times this season when we have been on the break and he has slowed play down because he isn't quick enough.
Correct. Dawson is simply not good enough for this level. He has desire but that's it. If you have desire and not enough skill then I can play for the Reds
I wouldn't say he's not good enough because he can certainly compete at this level, he gets stuck in and does have the odd impressive burst forward. He just isn't a Championship quality midfielder in terms of his touch, vision and as people have mentioned, mental quickness and sharpness. Can't ever see him playing a 15-20yard, defense-splitting ball for example but I'd be happy to be proved wrong. I'm also not keen on his obsession with playing quick, short freekicks which more often than not actually leave us in a worse position. The same could be said about Perkins on that score though. #Goodsquadplayer.
Radio Sheffield was right,it was Golbournes pass, but to be fair it deflected off a Blackburn player.
