Absolutely knackered, was up at 5 and coach set off at 6. First half was shocking, two terrible teams who looked like they'd never seen a ball before. Only piece of action of note was a superb Steele save. Defence looked solid but we offered very little going forward. Second half was a different story, we attacked with a bit more intent and played the ball on the floor a lot more. First goal was a short back pass where O'Grady went through and lobbed the keeper superbly. Second was a cracker from Lawrence, he dribbled across the edge of the area from left to right where it opened up and he smashed it just inside the post. Their goal then came totally against the run of play, they put a low cross in and we somehow ended up with a 2v1 at the back post and their man finished smartly. After that we took complete control again though, O'Grady was put through on goal after timing his run well, he took it round the keeper and slotted home. I must admit I thought he'd messed it up but he took it well. Jennings rounded off with a classic cut inside from in the area and curled it into the far post. M'Voto was MOTM by a mile, superb all the way through he didn't miss a thing all game. It was his time of game in that they played direct but he stood up superbly and he also led the defence as a whole. Though Dawson played well all game too, along with the rest of the back 4. Overall, Yeovil were dreadful throughout but we took our chances well and thoroughly deserved the win. Youreds.
Glad it paid off for you mate! M'Voto and MOTM weren't things that I'd ever have expected to go together but somehow, things have magically clicked with him and Nyatanga and they're bossing it. They suddenly have confidence and I reckon we should be comfortable with them until the end of the season. We're finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel, can we reach it? 'course we can, we'll manage it some way or another... hopefully.
just got back myself at oakwell for 11 then pilley for 11-30 could have been sooner for all fans on busses -1 hour to get away from ground -before we were on the main road out -no police escort. very accurate description of the match - 735 reds fans today - good turn out!
Probably the worst ground to get away from, we didnt get back to Weymouth till about 7pm. Other then that it's been a cracking weekend tho
It wasn't just me, then. Thought he had a great game. I must admit I got a bit nervous a few times but it was totally unwarranted because he was in total control of the situation. A very calm running out of the ball for a goal kick and a time when he took no risks of a miscommunication with Steele and took control to play the ball away stand out particularly in my memory. A great performance just when we absolutely needed him to step up.
Totally agreed he was superb. It wasn't just that he headed everything (which he did) but the way he looked in full control for the full 90 minutes. Let's hope this is a new beginning for him. Kelvin Etuhu was great at full back as well, didn't put a foot wrong.
Just got back myself. The whole team deserve praise for the second half performance but special praise to M'voto (man of the match), Lawrence, Jennings, Steele* and Dawson. * made a fantastic save from a very well worked free kick in the first half.
And Etuhu, very accomplished RB performance. Agree with the Mvoto for MOTM, dominant performance in the air and faultless on the deck. Nyatanga played a good supporting role, both won everything they competed for just about.
