after the first few minutes of Wigan pressure and their goal I was starting to think we were going to be in for a bally awful day. Then we deservedly got the penalty, scored, and from then on, virtually to the end of the game, we were in complete control. Maybe Wigan were too relaxed to bother but we certainly made them look second best. We pressed, defended, attacked, ran our balls to water and thoroughly deserved this result. The fans were simply magnificent, never stopped throughout, and gave the players a wonderful reception at the end which they really enjoyed. Even the Wigan fans applauded us and the team as they left the field. I suppose they could afford to, as champions. All in all a great day, one maybe to surpass Wembley for thrills and goals of course, and to reach the playoffs from the sheer misery of last November is a remarkable achievement. The words that kept coming into my mind as I drove back were that it had been a perfect performance.
At the 10 minute mark, 1-0 down and with them looking well up for it, I thought we were gonna be a pasting. Just goes to show that I know sod all about football and that's why I am just a supporter. Pretty much all changed around the 15-20 minute mark and after that, there was only one team in it. We proper hammered them today. Just amazing. What a day!.
only fly in the ointment was that some scroat nicked the programme from under my seat as I up clapping at the end. Thanks for that, you thieving tw*t.
