Just got home from Keepmoat and it is really two points lost I'm afraid

We bossed the first half with some pretty good football. A keeper error gave us the first goal but credit to Proschwitz for being there to pick up the loose ball.
The first disallowed was Digby's fault I think. We had a four on two after breaking out of defence quickly. He was steaming forward with a wide gap opening up in front of him. A more confident player would have gone through that gap and slammed it in. Instead he slowed down thus giving his team mates no chance of staying onside. It was disappointing but inevitable that we would end up with the flag going up.
The second one is a bit of mystery. All I saw was a good ball coming in from a corner (yes, really - a corner!). Crainie seemed to back head it straight in. So why was it disallowed. Anyone see anything wrong?
So, instead of being 3-0 up it looked like we would at least go in at half time in front, but no. A poor catch from Steele dropped, simple tap in for Coppinger.
I was hoping we would come out all guns blazing but it was the other way round. They stepped up a gear, Coppinger seemed to be here, there and everywhere and, sure enough, he gets a second goal. I thought that might deflate us but luckily we came back into it.
Digby needed to go off - the lad just isn't ready yet. Will he ever be? O'Brien was his usual industrious self when he came on.
Woods looked neat and tidy but is not a game winner on this performance whereas.........guess who came on? Paddy had just one jinking run and looked like he might produce something but it broke down. He should have had longer on the pitch. Oh, and he put in ONE GREAT TACKLE!
Overall, a decent game in windy conditions but one we should have, and could have, won easily. Getting to be a broken record that one, isn't it? At least we didn't lose and the situation hasn't changed around us.
Finally, the D'Urso efffect! He let them get away with all kinds of agricultural challenges and didn't speak to one of theirs yet booked Cranie for one foul. He actually had his back turned on one nasty foul. Unbelievable how he keeps getting games.

 

The only thing i disagree with. It was pretty even i thought, with Donny using the ball better by actually getting it down on the floor.
Fed up of this head tennis thing we seem to love.

Sounded like it was fairly even.

Got to turn one points into three and we'll be fine.

Good to hear paddy got on. Mellis still to come back. McLaughlin still to return.

We can do this. We'll beat some of the better teams. They underestimate us and we up our game.

Really feel it may come down to who has most games at the end against teams with nothing to play for.

Yes it was up in the air a bit too much, I agree. I was just saying we bossed it from the point of view that we could easily have been 3-0 in front and it would have been deserved. But, as usual, we switch off and give them a sloppy goal.

I forgot to mention two things in my original post. Nick Proschwitz put in a fantastic centre forward's performance - always a danger, always available, and two goals in his pocket. If only we could afford to buy him.
And, of course, the cretins in the two corners of the stand. I was in that corner nearest the Donny mob but wisely moved before kick off. The thick cloud of smoke from the canisters was just appalling and how ANYBODY can come on here and defend this kind of behaviour just beggars belief. There were cannisters going off in the other corner as well but not as many. ONE is too many though. At one point the fools were throwing one across the divide, backwards and forwards. With a line of police there didn't they see who was doing the throwing?
This kind of thing is going to get BFC in big trouble and yet some people think it is a bit of joke, a bit of a laugh. How about watching the football on the pitch for a change? No? Ok, stay at home then, whoever you are

 

Yes, I heard the same. Shame we don't have a keeper who can dominate his area though. He pulled off some good saves, as always, but his catching and kicking are usually sub-standard

 

Agree with most of that though thought Digby did what was asked of him better performance than many of Dawson's this season.

 

I don't want to criticise him too much. He's a young lad and will come good one day (hopefully). He's not right for us at the moment though on today's performance. It's hard to stand out playing where he does I suppose but we need an older head where he was today.
That incident that I described was just down to his inexperience. A more confident, more established player would have seen the big hole opening up and just driven right through it and got a shot away. He ran out of steam or ran out of ideas - I don't know which, but it was a great chance to go 2-0 up.
I like Digby - he has the physique and has promise. Maybe next season he will be there, but didn't we say that LAST season as well?

 

I debt see any of our central midfielders other than Jacob and maybe Paddy doing better in that situation. Certainly Dawson, and Kelvin would have produced similar efforts. He needs to play and although he didn't pull up any trees he didn't let anyone down.

Sorry, is this a dig at me? Where in my statement do I "blame the ref"? He had a poor game, blinkered mostly in fact, but there is nothing new there where Mr D'Urso is concerned.
He doesn't notice GBH resulting in fractured skulls, so why should we expect him to notice anything so trivial as a bad foul or two?
