Re. Jock. Good to see his beligerent little pokes aren't reserved exclusively for me. Re. George Best succumbing to his desease. You know who you are. Hang your heads in shame.
why should people hang their heads in shame he was given countless warnings, his family begged him and he was given a second chance at life. he blew it through his own selfishness by putting his own enjoyment ahead of his families wishes
We'll have to agree to disagree mate. You may see alcoholism as an enjoyment but I see it as a desease and a continuous and depressing battle. I don't think George thought it was big or clever, he'd have swapped places with you or I at the drop of a hat. We're all human mate. There but for the grace of God........
its funny that people get more sympathy for killing themselves (and slowly killing others) through smoking than they do thru alcoholism yet they are both as physically and mentally destructive as each other. How many times have smokers been told to stop smoking or die yet they continue. George Best did the same with yet he gets bugger all sympathy
RE: We'll have to agree to disagree mate. I know that you are right but i dont and never have had any sympathy for people that cause their own death in that way. Its just the way i am i suppose, the same as I dont grieve when a celeb dies or when a lot of people die in a natural disaster. I don't know these people so their deaths are no more or less important to me than any death. Some see that as heartless, i see it as realistic.
RE: its funny I don't know Jock, maybe people think the drinkers are having all the fun. How wrong can they be? I don't want George Best to die. He's the best footballer I've ever seen. But I don't want any alcoholic to die either, it's no way to go. Remember what the room service bloke said? "Where did it all go wrong George?"
RE: We'll have to agree to disagree mate. So the fact that he was given a new liver on the NHS at the expense of someone else who could have used that, and then continued to drink, thats ok is it?
george made his choices in life. and i bet he had a damn good one. suppose ur tombstone can either read he was alive for 60 years or for 60 years he lived. i dont wish him well or bad cos i dont know the man, and cant judge him on how he has lived. All we can say is he was one of the most talented footballers ever. and how often does such talent go hand in hand with a self abusive lifestyle?
RE: We'll have to agree to disagree mate. Of course he "had a choice" - might have been difficult for him to do but it was a choice.
