Just back from the Well, took me about 45 minutes to get my ticket. Plenty of press there; Hallam Fm, Real Radio, Sky Sports and The Star interviewing and filming. One thing though....amazing how many fans had queued at the ticket office and got to the front only to be told it was a season ticket only queue and they would have to go round to the East stand to get their seat and queue again!!!! I knew where to queue 'cos I had read the official site, saw it in the paper and even heard it on the radio but many fans miss out on the above media (plenty of older end fans especially) and end up just turning up at the ticket office to queue. (Afterall, unless you read otherwise you would expect to buy a ticket at a ticket office!) Surely a bit of common sense such as a sign near to the ticket office queue saying 'Season Ticket Holders only, General Sale tickets at East Stand turnstyles' would have saved a lot of people (inclduing ticket office staff) a LOT of time. Surely its common sense. A lot of people did the above and I was only there 45 minutes. I understand we have a new regime at Oakwell so mistakes are understandable but lets just hope they can be learned from. Anyway, tickets are now in my hand so Come OOoooon Yoooouuuuu REeeeddddzzzzzzz!!!! Paolo
Yesterday, a non ST holder had been in the Q for the box office for a couple of hours before someone pointed out he could get a ticket at the East Stand in 10 mins.
I am amazed that that sort of incident hasn't filtered back to the club and they then put up some signs to prevent it happening again. Whats it cost for an A4 black and white print out?!! Pence?! And it saves many, many, many irritable customers. Paolo
I've just got back They had stewards going down the queue checking people had season tickets. About 30 mins to get them! They expect away tickets to sell out either today or tomorrow morning. Tempers a little frayed in the office - at the window next to where I was being served the guy had been there ages with at least half a dozen books and then when she'd just sorted out his home tickets he said it was away tickets he wanted and that he'd said at the start....quite why he only wanted to buy away tickets I don't know! Much shouting and the girl was taken into adjoining office crying! An old guy wanted his seat and the spare one next to him told best thing to get 2 together was to go to the turnstyles, he also wanted 2 away tickets and was then discussing with the women in office whether he should wait or just get that one (as though she could really help with that)....which was when she said that they expected them to sell out by tomorrow morning. Right.........onto talking about the game! Come on you redssssssssssssssssssssssssss! (nodding2fingers) (nodding2fingers)
Trouble is, they don't listen and won't learn. Gordon Shepherd has just been on DeeDar and he was all defensive - 'we didn't have time to prepare' (B*ll*cks), 'we couldn't have done any better in the time' (double B*ll*cks). I've a lot of time for what the new regime has achieved this season, but they are so bloody arrogant when it comes to listening to their customers. They never admit to being wrong in any way. Why can't they just for once come out and say 'OK, we know we're not perfect, we did what we thought was best but we're always prepared to listen and we'll be thoroughly debriefing the exercise and learning from it'. Sorry Gordon, whatever else you may be YOU ARE NOT PERFECT and neither are your staff. Swallow that one and we might get somewhere.
"we didn't have time to prepare"! We've been in a playoff position for months so they could have planned for the eventuality.
