Thankfully it is only gossip. But apparently Michael Appleton is favourite to succeed Stuart Pearce as Under 21 manager
I think that was in the papers a few weeks back.....it was http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/england-under-21s-michael-appleton-leading-1896878
Wow. didn't know ceefax still existed. used to spend ages watching the free pages when a were a nipper
The managerial merry go-round. There are managers with worse records than him still getting very well paid jobs. Football is completely detached from real life.
Not a fan then? His record stands up against most of his contemporaries. I'd have had him over Woy for England, tax dodger or not. Might not be quite so defensive then.
Cant stand the guy but his management record is pretty good - its the likes of Appleton (and before him Paul Hart) that baffled me about how they kept getting given jobs. I think giving Appleton the U21 job is actually slightly worse than if Pearce had been kept on
How much money has he spent though achieving the modicum of success he's had? I think plenty of others would have done better with the financial backing he's had.
Id hate to read his CV...mind you typing it up is a full time job with all the ammendments every week. Wonder if he has Pickfords removals on speed dial
