Live in Stevenage! Still took near 2 hour back!

Not the greatest game but real heart from the players. Was gutted when Kozzy headed in. Couldn't be bothered with extra time!

First half we played far far better. Macken missed a great chance, Emil fired over from free kick. Steel was fantastic. covered his area like a sweeper and started lots of quick counter attacks.

Clear plan to kick long to KO on the right, to flick on to Macken and Boggy. Rarely worked perfectly but did cause a few problems for their pint sized left back.

    Ratings

Steele - 9 Some really great saves second half. kept us in it.
Kozluk - 5 looked very shakey at times. took a knock end of first half though. second half came forward more.
El Haimour - 3 Just not up to it. Got skinnedregularly, was out of position too much, all their attacks focussed on him. Distribution was shocking
Foster - 8 did very little wrong all night. Looked after Potter well.
Potter - 7 kept it simple. Wasn't overly troubled. Will get much better with experience
JCR - 7 Played in centre. Again. Wasn't at his best. Best chance was cutting in from right and left foot shot to top corner. Good ovation as he left
Emil - 7 Some very nice touches. Screaming for him to let fly when he beat about 3 men on edge of the box. Looks to have some real talent though
Colace - 9 Best outfield player on the pitch. Added real quality and time on the ball. never raved about him before, or knocked him, but looked a class apart tonight
Boggy - 8 took first goal well. thought he'd missed the chance. Penalty was composed seeing as all the fans were on edge of pitch chanting his name!
KO - 6 tried as he always does, did win some flick ons, not awful but not great. Did win the penalty at the end. Missed a couple of chances. no real sitters that i can remember
Macken - 7 played really well I thought. missed a good chance. but looked really sharp.

Fans - mainly really positive. not a great turn out as can be expected!

Where was Tobytykespuppy? Probably busy organising a protest on our behalf!

players at the end had a real passion i thought. Group hug at end. Hopefully turn them over saturday.

Good end to a long night!!!

not the strongest oposition. But we were far better. And MEH did not have a good game. In my opinion like. If we get a good left back, and Andy Gray plays well we have a promising team.

I think 3 out of 10 was a bit harsh

but I didnt think he had a great game either
Good in parts but too easily pushed around by opposition strikers and distribution wasnt great either

Not his worst game for us by anymeans but if he is our left footed full back we are in trouble

    Listening on Radio Berkshire ....

commentary was good value with ex-Rotherham Mick Gooding. They were raving about JCR's contribution and said that he was behind both our goals. It also sounded as though they think Reading might be bidding for him again, now that Smith has abandoned them for Portsmouth. Playing Odejayi wide right sounded as though it was working well and had potential. Hiralious description by Gooding of Odejayi being marked by Jay Tabb. KO is at his best when he is running at the opposition and putting against a left back (probably not very tall) may just be a great idea. As Reading brought Tabb on seemingly to mark KO, you can only assume that they were more worried about his pace than his height. Potter sounded like Farmer Wilson and McCarthy of old - didn't they use to shout 'Staveley' at Rotherham because that was where the defensive hoof ended up if it went out of the ground and into a coal train? Ok - not the strongest Reading squad, but neither was ours - no Moore; no De Silva until late on; no Gray.

Liked Gooding's comment on the penalty - I don't think he would have brought Odejayi down if he knew what his scoring record is like! Yeh! Right!

Seeds of hope - but for how long?

Was it a proper 4-3-3 then?

Was KO on the right then? Bit confused.

As for El Haimour - nowt against HIM - but how long before he's politely asked to leave... for his own sake bless him.

    His biggest problem is

That he just has no build at all. He'd get shoved about in an U16s game. Seriously. If he worked on his physique a bit more, ie pumped some iron, he might be a tad more up to it.

He can cross well and he does have pace, but those attributes aren't quite enough at this level sadly.

    Of course not

I am not quite sure exactly what it was - and I dont think the players were either

I think it might have been supposed to be a 4-5-1 in defence and 4-3-3 in attack - though we did leave 3 up at their corners until we scored

Basically the back 4 was fairly defined and Colace and Emil covered the middle of midfield quite well

Boggy on the left KO on the right and Macken in the middle though Maken and KO seemed to swap around a bit
JCR as usual all over the place

Can I just say well done to the 100 fans who caused the players

to be up for it. If you were one of them, what tips can you give to thehome fans to do the same?

    MEH - Leave Off

How can Odejayi be worth 6 and NEH 3????

    That is deluded.

He played left back with little protection (JCR in front of him) and two men attacking him.

I defy any fullback to mark two players.

Potter had to come across to support far too often, even Boggy!

    RE: MEH - Leave Off

just my opinion of a player who litterally wasted every attack he was involved in. people say his crossing is good but last night it was woeful. He misplaced numerous passes. Was out of position a lot, hence Potter covering so much, he very nearly gave a penalty away second half when he let his man run him into the box. All of readings most threatening play came down their right.

Also Boggy was regularly tracking back to help out on the left. You could tell Boggy was worried to even pass to E-H as the game wore on as invariably it was lost.

Again. My opinion on what i felt was an inept performance! Tries very hard mind.

Maybe there wasn't a 'Davey Out' chant all night (dunno)

no davey out chant. Just support for the players and team. One bloke, once, shouted at Davey. That was the only negative I really heard.

Amazing that when you support the players they seem to try that little harder......

They didn't get much grief during the Coventry or Preston game - and it would have been well deserved

Now that's just typical Davey, why can't we go for the second instead of trying to defend a 1-0 lead. Does my nut it!
