Can't be bothered writing a match report in great detail, but we deserved a result. Vaughan( ? ) had a header cleared off the line, their keeper made a couple of good stops, and Shuker produced a terrible miss when he had time to make sure he finished. Nardiello was very poor for 75 minutes, Hayes practically upfront on his own and I was impressed.

Colgan - 6 - not at fault for either goal IMHO.
    Tonge - 6 - Solid.
Carbon - 5 - Inexcusable challenge for the penalty and misjudged a few high balls.
Kay - 7 - Thought he played well. Most problems in the first half were via Carbon rather than him.
Austin - 5 - Didn't think he was quite at the races. Maybe deserves a 6, but I felt he gave up on the 2nd goal too easily and showed a lack of judgment before Taylor got away.
Shuker - 5 - Poor, but got forward to support Hayes when he could.
Burns - 5.5 - Decent enough. McPhail got stuck in more than him though.
McPhail - 7 - Easily our best midfielder today, got stuck in, won headers.
Wroe - 5.5 - Decent enough, but my problem with him is that he doesn't offer anything specific: ie workrate, goals, vision, tackling, etc. He's just an "average allrounder" at this stage, and for that reason he doesn't really do anything to change a game. But as I said, decent enough.
Nardiello - 5 - Would have been a lot lower but at least he had a couple of decent efforts towards the end of the second half. Before that he was garbage, refused to move unless the ball was straight to his feet, and he was offside too much, as usual.
Hayes - 7 *MOTM* - Scored a goal through sheer persistence, and in general was good. Played a superb ball through for Shuker to somehow miss, and for the most part was practically playing upfront on his own.

They were a poor side in general, and as usual it was the typical situation where we were on-top and pushing for a winner, and got caught with a sucker punch.

Feel free to disagree- just how I saw it. :)

That’s about the only realistic posting that I have seen.

Most of the derogatory posting stating how poor we were are by people who didn’t even go to the match, which says it all!!

good posting and I agree with everything you say. however, because the reds were piss poor I thought last night, comming away from the ground, that scunny will struggle and that the quality of our play makes them look just above average. I do think though that the reds will improve when, first,we get the four missing players back and second, when he goes out and spends on his defence. I wonder,if a message could be got to shepherd and co. that we need a little money to improve matters, just incase he is'nt aware. Know wharra I mean Harry.:pff
