I use Virgin and have never had any problems but I think there is a twelve month contract.

!2 month, then rolling with a months notice to quit unless you accept a better tariff/deal.

Zen - not the cheapest but in the unlikely event you have a problem their customer support is really good - based in Leeds so no communications issues.

One month contract £18 per month http://www.zen.co.uk/home-office/broadband/home-office-broadband.aspx

but if you might be better with Plusnet if you are going to be on for more than a couple of months as their basic package is £8.50 per month and I think you can get that for half price for the first 6 months so even if you cancel early and have to pay up the remaining months on the contact its not silly money

Plusnet is fantastic. No problems and friendly and helpful call staff who actually know what they're talking about. Cheap too!

This is a good website mate:

    http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/packages/?gclid=COmXg8_2_LcCFUfLtAod42QAXw

I managed to get a good deal on 02 broadband (50% off the first 6 months, free line rental, free box/installation etc) because my mobile has been on o2 for years. Always worth haggling with your mobile network provider.

Reward for loyalty, it was the equivalent of Barnsley offering Bobby Hassell a new 1 year deal if you like.

I've just cancelled Plusnet and moved to Primus. Nothing against Plusnet, always very good service but their 10Gb monthly limit was preventing me from watching Bobby Hassell videos on YouTube as I kept getting close to the limit.

Primus is just £4 per month, and £10 per month line rental paid in advance, for an 18 month contract. Can't comment on service as I haven't changed over yet, but there are many packages cheaper than Plusnet available these days. Even their advisor agreed the 10Gb limit is out of date these days.
