When we played in the premiership, the fashion was to play 3-5-2. We did so and played some excellent stuff with key players being Eaden and Barnard. Eaden got some stick from the fans, but I'd settle for a player half as good.

Steele (GK)

Foster (DC), Thompson (SW), Moore (DC)

JCR (RWB), Anderson (AMC), Hassell (DM), Butterfield (AMC), Halfredson (LWB)

Boggy(FC) & Hume (FC)

Any thoughts..................... ok, I realise Thompson and Halfredson haven got clearance thro yet.

To play Moore in a 3 man defence would be suicide

We haven't got enough defensive players at the club to go 3-5-2.

JCR might do ok in the middle of a midfield 5 in this formation, but who would you have as your back three?

I'm assuming you'd have to go with Kozluk and Hassell as wingbacks which means we'd need Moore and Foster at centre back along with Thompson if he gets clearence. Trouble with this is we'd not have a room in the team for the ice man (winger isn't he?), Devaney, or Hammill. Ok, maybe on performances this season, none of them deserve but that's a different matter.

I think I would play Moore as sweeper due to lack of pace, or put Potter on the left side with Thompson as sweeper as you suggest. I like the 3 -5 2 but would personally like to see the following:</p>

Steele/Preece</p>

Foster Thompson Potter/Moore</p>

Hassell Colace De Silva Butterfield Halfredsson</p>

Bogdanovich Odejayi/Hume</p>

Subs: JCR, Devany, Macken et al but trying to play to feet/ crosses as we used to play!</p>

Think Hassell would need to improve his pace going forwards and would like to see Halfredson before committing. Odejayi for height from crosses but would substitue De Silva / Butterfield for JCR when necessary. Who'd be a manger eh? lol</p>
