We're 3rd, 4 points behind Watford who have played 2 more than us in that time, and 1 point behind Brighton who have also played 2 more games. Ironically we've beaten both of them in that time too.Flicker has accumilated 26 points from the 14 league games he has managed. Are we statistically the best team in the league, at the moment?
I did the predictor again last night and got us safe on 54 points. That was even allowing for us to lose away to both Crystal Palace and Cardiff, but beat Charlton and Derby and draw at home to Hull. A lot of the teams currently with 50-52 points have to play each other and all that means that. as long as we win two and, even better, three of our last games, we should be safe and that before the Huddersfield game at the end. It would be a huge bonus if we were to get anything from the next two games. I have us slipping into the relegation slots again by mid-week, but then climbing steadily to safety. Are we good enough to get something from Palace, or Cardiff?
I'm worried about that. It isn't going to be great after midweek when we're potentially 3 points from safety with the same games played :-(
Actually we're second ...... http://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables...Jan-01/todate:2013-Jun-01/type:home-and-away/ and this is the table immediately before Flicker took charge http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2012-2013/table/2012-12-29 and in PPG terms yes we are the best.
We've won at the new Cardiff ground so can do so again. Palace have lost their last three, let in 8 during that time and not scored in any of them so should be there for the taking.
I got us safe on an optimistic 58 points and finishing 11th. This included a draw at Palace, beat Derby and Charlton, a draw v Hull, and a win at Huddersfield. Easy
Yet we kept hearing the mantra that no one could do better than that other bloke or that it was like tightrope walking in two ton shoes. All proven to be complete tripe.
Are we good enough to get something from Palace, or Cardiff? I don't think we can rely on beating both Charlton and Derby. If we lose against both Palace and Cardiff then the pressure will really be back on again and whilst we've dealt well with it in recent weeks I think it might eventually tell with a couple of points dropped. I think we'll get four from six from those two homes games. It would be great for us to be safe when we go to Huddersfield so something from these next away games would be great. Can we get something from Palace or Cardiff? Absolutely, on current form we're better than both. Palace are in a bit of a slump (although until last weekend against B'ham) it had been away from home. Nevetheless, they will be a bit jittery having lost three in a row, not scored and conceded a few. Cardiff likewise haven't been great lately and have drawn a few games at home, although I sense maybe they've been less nervous recently. Will we get something at one or both? If we're on top of our game yes - I'd be ecstatic with four points, extremely happy with three from a win in one of them, happy with two draws and satisfied (just about) with a draw and a narrow defeat. Two defeats would really put the pressure back on imo. First things first - a point or better at Palace would be great as it'd guarantee we couldn't drop back into the bottom three. What points total would everyone else be happy with from these next two games?
Realistically I would be satisfied with 2, but I think the likelihood of two draws is very very slim. As I won't be happy with 1 point or zero, I'm holding out for a win - most likely against Palace.
Isn't it great though, that with less than a month to go to League endings, that just about EVERY team in the Championship has something to play for
