The club has been dreadfully mismanaged since we returned to the second tier. We're not going down because we can't compete at this level, or because we small, or because we don't have money - you can always find a hundred reasons to fail or accept failure - the truth is we have wasted every opportunity we have been given to consolidate ourselves. Our transfer dealings have been woeful. We have let countless quality players slip through our fingers, we have been too tolerant and generous towards players who clearly haven't been good enough. We have repeatedly wasted money on speculative and cheap options - both at a managerial and at a player level. There has been no clear vision of progress or improvement. We have never had the courage to bring in quality, rather than waste on quantity. A fundamental lack of standards, and an expectation that BFC can't attract quality players on decent, reasonable contracts, has been our downfall. We - as a club, have failed to demand respect, or act with the pride that is consistent with the club. We are not a league one or a league two outfit - but that is what our board and our leadership has apologetically pressed upon us over the last seven seasons. This has been wholeheartedly corroborated by the media and we are expected, as fans, to act like the children of a lesser god. We've been abused by journeymen, parasites and amateurs. Today we got one - nil up, and instead of defending for our lives passionately and like lions - the lead is gone inside a minute. It says it all. We have sown the seeds of this relegation in every action since our promotion. I have no idea why it has taken so long. Disgusted.
Completely agree. It all started with the appointment of Simon Davey, when really we should have pushed the boat out and appointed an experienced manager to establish ourselves.
