A good performance, we can take heart from that. First half we were the better team, punished by a slack decision for the free kick (from where i was stood) and a silly mistake for the penalty. Odejayi and Rigters combined well up front, with rigters looking lively and odejayi winning everything in the air, muscling defenders, and being a general nuisance. Second goal killed us a bit really, however had one of our many chances from freekicks at the end of the half gone in (one dropping a mere inch wide of the post with green stranded) its 2-1 and we're in the game. Second half they were the better team, collins man marked oddjob out of the game, and el hamiour took to following jcr around effectivly reducing us to 9 men. We hit the post and bar, and despite all of bellamys whining to the ref (who was shocking), it was a class goal that undid us in the end, really good build up play and a simple finish. On the ref note, he got the penalty right but that was about it. Very inconsistent and could easily have sent off a west ham player late in second half for a lunge on rigters who was running through after a poor clearance. Had it not been a west ham player it would have been red. Poor result, but not disgraced by any means.
Derrick Parker thought we played well... ... and he's not easy to please.
Also the five live reporter said we played spme lovely football, although she's a girl so won't know owt about footie.... ahem !!!!!

idiotque Thats just how i had it sumed up in my mind, i thaught we were strong throughout the game and the scoreline flattered west ham some what, i agree with your point about the ref too, but he was never gunna give Barnsley anything in front of a premiership home croud in my opinion.
We didnt disgrace ourselves and 3-0 flattered them There were several issues though - they always looked like scoring when they attacked we didnt really look like we would score The chance missing in the first half was from one of their defenders We had 2 long range efforts from Leon that hit the woodwork - which was unlucky -especially as the first would have made it 2-1 and JCR produced a decent save but in honesty we were never going to get back into the game once the second goal went in. I didnt think KO and Rigters did much myself
Its all about opinions I thought he fell over too easily and still seems lacking in a bit of sharpness. He did last better than I expected though Shame he got brought down when he stole the ball off their last defender - would have been interested to see how he finished the one on one with their keeper. Not sure how the ref only gave a yellow for that - but then again the ref didnt get many decisions right and none of those were in our favour
