A month or two back I went in to a bar called Sushi Samba in Heron Tower in the City of London. Bought two 330ml bottles of beer (Asahi) for me and my mate. Paid with a twenty quid note. Imagine my surprise when I got 2 quid change! 9 quid a bloody bottle.

You think thats steep. I was in London yesterday and the cheapest pint was £5.50 where we were with a standard bottle of beer being charged at £8.50 and this was just a general run of the mill pub.

I was exaggerating a tad, I only had chips, but I used to be able to get a pint for 1/11 in old money (9 1/2p).

Speaking as a straight man I obviously don't drink lager, but I did pay£6.50 for a pint of dark ale for the Mrs in Port St Beer House in Manc, felt ill afterwards.

That stuff is disgusting. The Belgians make some good beers, but not Hoegaarden.
