I only got 16 - 1. I know a lot of people have done better than that, but still, the principle is there. Whenever I bet, I lose. That's what it is all about. I hope I lose my fifty quid.

If we go down, I will be inconsolable - but at least my 'insurance' will pay me £800 and I'll go skiing in the winter (when maybe my depression will have cleared a bit).

Now at least my cloud has a silver lining.

Anyone else going to try the same?

I must qualify this recent action - I never, never bet on anything. it's pure nervous idiocy.

I don't even bet on the grand national - always thought gambling was a mugs game. And, in fact, it is. The bookies make a lot of money for a reason - look at the money made in Las Vegas.

...but still, these are the bizarre actions of a nervousreds fan. This is the only way I can tempt karma into keeping the reds up. Tomorrow is going to be agony, because right now my stomach is inknots. :'(

As I said - never wanted to lose fifty quid so much. And Ifigure, since the ticket is halfprice anyway, it's not so bad.(doh)

Are you kidding? If I put a fifty quid bet on without telling my wife I get a right kicking. I put my crazy logic past her expecting her to tell me not to be so stupid - but she actually said 'mmmh, ok' (shocker).

And she wants the reds to stop up - she's not coming on the holiday!

    :D

    Leeds relegation odds 1/2 on.

    http://www.willhill.com/iibs/EN/buildcoupon.asp

Don't know what odds you'd get on them stopping up. It was difficult enough for me to find:

    1) An online bookies

    2) The page for the relegation odds

and that's why I got stiffed. shortly afterwards I found another bookies offering 20-1 when I'd only gotten 16-1. Doh. I'm **** at betting.
