Firstly, he was of middle eastern origin. He then said he was from BT, and that was concerned about my computer. I replied that I hadn't used it for weeks, and then he hung up. Ten minutes later the loon phoned again, and said that he would now be cutting off my internet and the telephone line, to which I replied "Happy Christmas" and hung up.

You will not be surprised to learn that I am still connected to both the Internet and the BT telephone system.

    I get these calls too.
I just tend to play silly buggers.
the last one asked me to sit in front of my computer and try all sorts of procedures.
after a few minutes of nothing working and him getting seemingly frustrated.... I said "should I have turned it on first?"
    when he then said yes...
I started making erotic noises... and then complained that I "couldn't turn it on"... but did say I was getting turned on!
    he hung up!

    how odd!!

Unfortunately I don't get these calls as often as I'd like - I can think of many ways to keep them on the phone just doing rubbish. Last time I kept dropping big hints that I was running Linux and it took him about 15 minutes to twig... I didn't even have a computer in front of me at the time. The time before that I talked to him like I was trying to work Windows of the double-glazing type.... That one had the office in stitches :)

I used to get one every week, from India though not the Middle East, think BT customer details were stolen by someone in their call centre over there and passed on the scam artists.

We get similar calls from "Talktalk". Oh we have such fun. Sometimes I say we've left Talktalk and have been told that we would receive a call from a Mr ****er. Is that you? No, not Mr Wonka. Or we have a more serious conversation about the Talktalk person's mother and how proud they are of their son (or occasionally daughter). Fair brightens my day.

I've been getting loads of calls to my mobile starting with 01977, which. Is my area code.

As I'm self employed, I used to answer thinking it could be a local customer, but it was always someone with a scouse accent.

I've blocked no end of these calls now, but it must work for them to continue phoning people?

I've had quite a few of these and find them really helpful. They help me keep my laptop running in tip-top condition, and the small costs involved are worth paying considering the mess I'd get into without them.

I've no idea how I'd keep my 5 year old laptop going if it wasn't for all the nice useful programmes I let them install on it. Thanks and Merry Christmas to the Microsoft Support Team in India.

I get a lot of Rotherham phone numbers ringing me, and every time I answer its a scouser asking if I have had s credit card in the last 5 years?

At first I thought the Liverpudlian lass had just moved here, until the call came more often.... Rovrum number, different scouser.

The saddest part about a lot of these calls is that a lot of the scammers genuinely believe they're helping people

    You're stereotyping scousers now.
