been to Filey But that's abart it.</p> Seems I've missed a continuation of last season's league form. Which is concerning.</p>
Pah! Poor man's Flamborough! Apparently, though, you're not entitled to complain over anything BFC related until an, as yet, unspecified time scale has passed. Anyone who does voice concerns is not a real fan. I'm easily intimidated, so I daren't say anything. By the way, YouReds really surpassed themselves in the quiz last night. Question : In what year did David Tennant make his first appearance as Dr Who? YouReds Answer : William Hartnell. We need you to come out of retirement and soon. I've proved to be a totally inadequate replacement.
Words fail me I've spent a good 5 minutes looking at the question & trying to follow the logic of the answer. Ok, it was a minute looking for the logic & 4 minutes in uncontrolled laughter!
It's not my fault I misheard the question, I'm old, I'm senile, I'm thick, I'm pathetic. Seeing as David Tennant is Laura's favourite man on the planet, you can just imagine the level of abuse I've had to endure.
Read some of the debate about the last game especially I'm baffled to understand how by criticising Davey you want BFC to fail.</p> Mind, a few were that vociferous about the previous manager etc that they'll be worried that because they see this BBS as being all about being proved correct and appearing oh so spot on in all things, that they'll say owt.</p> 2 games in. However, considering the side put out v Coventry, is it a stronger team than last year ?</p>
RE: Read some of the debate about the last game especially Nope, but it might be stronger when everyone's available. I'm very much starting to wish Lewin was back too
Not at the moment, certainly with Anderson. I think Hume is an improvement but he was poor on saturday. We're certainly no worse than last year and with players to come back in I think we will be stronger. My main worry is this is a lot stronger division this year
Sensible post alert! Last Saturday's team was totally unbalanced and inferior to last season. Once everyone's available for selection, that may not be the case. However, I will always maintain that having competent, left footed players playing at left back and left sided midfield will give us far more natural balance. It was a failing, in my opinion, with the side last season and Simon Davey has not eradicated the problem during the summer.
I can see it was no better but not sure how it was worse, it was practically the same team as last year but I admit Nyatanga would add pace and wish he'd chosen to come. Devaney played on the left last year too so thats the same situation. Centre mid were very good first half and if we'd put the three good early chances away. Coventry are well organised team who've spent money and consequently added quality
Hassell at left back was poor Moore at centre half was not an improvement to Nyatanga, Foster's performance at right back was down on the standards he set for himself last season, centre midfield only performed in the first half, Devaney rarely (if at all) went past his full back on the outside and was very rarely used as a left winger during 2007/08 (certainly far fewer than JCR) unless my memory is playing tricks with me, Steele did not command his area as well as he has done previously. This all added up to what, at best, was a disjointed ninety minutes. For me, this was indicative of a lack of progress. I am only posting my opinions, they are not statements of fact. Anyone who knows me will confirm that I rarely submit what could be construed as a negative post. If anything, I'm usually a happy clapping optimist.
Agree on general performace levels certainly, but don't think its weaker on paper other than Nyatanga missing and Hassel at left back. That siad a lot of people seem to dislike Nyatanga although i thought he was good and improving Thought we really missed JCR saturday. Devaney can be very frustrating at times. Only seen him once but El Hamour played well when I saw him. He is lightweight but no more so than Devaney. Thought lots of player had an off day rather than it being a weaker team (bar left back!)
As I said to Dirk earlier Once Muller, de Silva, Colace, JCR, & El Haimour are available for selection (assuming, of course, that the ones returning for long term injuries are able to produce the standard of performance previously attained), then we may see the improvement in our displays that EVERYONE wants.
Hopefully so. My biggest worry is that fully fit we are stronger but the league is also a lot stronger, It would be good if we can produce some of the passing football in the first 20 mins on sat on a regular basis though because it was a joy to watch at times.
If we are able to do so Then we'll be okay, provided our strikers apply the finishing touch to the approach play. At this moment, it's a big if.
There lies the rub I'm quite sure that even the most fervent Simon Davey disliker wants Barnsley to do well, even when Davey is in charge. However, it's quite obvious that one or two folk on here have somehow decided that should our fortunes take a turn for the better then they are 'better' at this than everyone else because of course they knew all along it'd improve etc. Thus those who are vocal in their protests at the moment are then to be ridiculed for having such opinions - the claim that they were merely defending Davey against 'personal' attacks is pretty much null & void considering what else they post on here.</p> Today's phrase - 'unsinkable rubber ducks'</p> </p>
