Just seen 'em both on the championship - quality. Not replayed it but at first viewing the Werling booking looked harsh to me. Great work by KO and Disco for the winner. PS - Anybody notice Martin was booked for taking his shirt off, next up was the Fowls and Jeffers wasn't booked for taking his off. The joys of refereeing inconsistency...............
Devaney's shirt removal... ...did you notice he had another shirt on underneath so why did he get booked? If he's showing flesh then fair enough, send him off! but he was still covered up!
Most ridiculous rule in football. Anybody know what the reasoning behind it is? Just taking passion out of the game, as a fan i love to players celebrate how they want to and show how much it means to them.
RE: Devaney's shirt removal... It's about taking off the game shirt - having one underneath makes no difference. Quite why players haven't yet managed to grasp that taking your shirt off is a booking I don't know. Werling's 2nd booking looked harsh, slowed it down and there was minimal contact.
It all comes down to money... British football is marketable all around the world so we don't want to be upsetting certain cultures where showing a bit of flesh is offensive. Even if it means taking some of the fun out of it for us. Marvellous, isn't it.
RE: Devaney's shirt removal... I know - tempted to say the white one Disco had on looked better than the 'ecru'! Whereas Jeffers had nowt on and got no card!
I'm With You Easty Players know they are going to get booked and so by now should know not to take their shirt off. It's not like there's not other ways to be booked.
