It's on the BBC website now. Ok, it's a poor error by Ferdinand, but that doesn't mean Robert Green has to throw himself at their forward like he did. It was a very poorly timed challenge. All I've heard since yesterday is how Ferdinand let the side down but from what I've seen Green is far more culpable. imho and all that.
It was rank bad all round .... ... Ferdinand was asleep and let the guy in behind him but Green's challenge was poor, he would have been better just standing up to him. It would have been better to go 1-0 down and still have 11 men on the field, our performance with 10 showed we would have had a good chance of getting level.
It wasn't the only thing Rio did wrong though. He had a fairly poor game all round. Green did make a mess of it though. But I said before the game, not convinced by him at all, even less now. At least it gives another GK a chance, because without the red I think Capello had made his mind up to go with Green for the WC. He has to have a look at someone else now.
Well James played really well once he came on Looked much better than Green has recently - still dont trust him to not make a howler as well though - wonder what Capellos view is
There are no stand out candidates Bit of a worry. If I was Capello I would let James play the last qualifier, but then give another keeper a chance in the friendlies. If they don't look confident then James is the man to fall back on. After the WC I would give Hart a run in the team.
Just seen it myself and tend to agree. Also, what the hell was Ashley Cole doing for the goal, and how come no-one has mentioned that?
