News of a deal in the Bundesliga as Mainz sign Croatia international keeper Dario Kresic from Lokomotiv Moscow on a free transfer. Kresic has initially joined for the rest of the season, with the option for a two-year deal in the summer.
    Maybe out of favour.

    I'd love him back, mate

For me, he's the best Barnsley goalkeeper I've seen in all my years of watching us.

He has been Mainz's first choice as their regular keeper was injured at the start of the season. He has then been injured himself and they've been playing their third choice teenage keeper. I doubt Muller is available but, if he was, I'd welcome him back. Top class.

From Mainz's official site - go get him Danny:-

The pecking order for the 1. FSV Mainz 05's goalkeepers has been officially rearranged. In the second leg of this season the three keepers for the 05ers' pro-side will be Loris Karius, Christian Wetklo, and Christian Mathenia. Heinz Müller will be training with Mainz's Regional League team for the rest of the season. Coach Thomas Tuchel informed the 35 year-old keeper of the decision on Sunday morning.

“We decided to have three keepers on our roster for the second leg, Heinz Müller is not one of them. We had to make a decision. It was a difficult decision but now it's been made,” explained Tuchel, who then added, “Various factors lead to this decision.” One factor is the solid development by the young keepers Loris Karius and Christian Mathenia. Other key factors were the general age of all their keepers, the fact that Heinz Müller's contract is set to expire this summer, and Müller's injury history.

Manager Christian Heidel made similar comments. “The ranking among the goalkeepers has fundamentally changed. Heinz Müller is no longer among the top three and we're not going to have four keepers training with the pro-side.

Well that news from Mainz's official site changes things! Get him back now! I might start to feel optimistic. Okay, maybe not.

He has been told to train with the reserves at Mainz and he will not be playing for them again or offered them a new contract.

Luke certainly is a fine goalkeeper. But he's only playing at the moment because of painkilling injections for his back as we have no fit alternatives. Throughout every game he's played since his return, he's persistently stretching and exercising to ease the stiffness in his back. The lad deserves to be treat better than a mere slab of meat, especially when taking into account his sterling service to our club. If Muller were to be brought back, Luke could receive the appropriate medical treatment & rest he requires to get him back up to full fitness and we'd still have a decent goalkeeper playing in the first team.

    Yes, mate

Better than all of them. As I said, Andy, in my opinion he's the best goalkeeper I've ever seen play for Barnsley. It doesn't bother me in the slightest if others disagree, that's their right.

Steele is a new man since we hired Mahmood Al Zarooni.

I'm very disappointed by this, I was hoping he'd be in goal for Mainz when I see them play next month!

Certainly before his injury he was phenomenally good. Not necessarily my favourite (step forward Mr Baker), but definitely the best.
