    get them sent home

We had a case at work back in 2008 - member of staff went home with sickness - he claimed against the company for not offering additional breaks

Even though their is no law against max temp we still lost the case and he was offered £8000

Funny enough his position went redundant :)

    The minimum temp is 16

First time they've been home since 2006? That's some shift that.

Credit crunch and all that, they've got bills to pay. And here's me moaning after an 11 hour shift.

    well done Sir

firstly I take my hat off to you for using good common sense.... but you will reap a huge reward, your staff will obviously see that you care for their well being and morale.... you have now got a team that will jump through hoops for you. I know you were not giving them the time off for your gain, but any worker who gets this care and understanding from their employer really should appreciate they have a top boss to work for... I give you my plaudit's and my total respect.

I was moaning about the heat today and I only sit at a desk, I'm in a building that was never originally meant to be an office though so it does get very uncomfortable on days like today. I should be thankful I wasn't doing anything manual.

I work in an office too, in a very old building, I was actually sweating today at my desk, had windows open too. It was hell

I then went out for a run after work, not my best decision ever. Had to have a cold bath when I got back.

    Tis a hard life.

But with the weather set to stay like this, and in fact get warmer, what happens tomorrow? Another day off?

It's horrendous in my classroom, my window open no further than an inch (the other one is locked) and I have 2 fans on (which are noisy and disrupt the lesson) but with 30 kids in there it gets extremely hot. I can have 5 kids having a nosebleed at once and lots of them are complaining of feeling dizzy (not just the usual complainers either). No-one can concentrate as it is so hot and our faces are bright red all day. I've complained about it but nothing has been done. My classroom is the only one like it.

Inform one of the parents, I'm sure they'd complain and be listened to.
