Maybe history will repeat itself ? The board at Barnsley FC have sacked manager Andy Ritchie. He is replaced on a temporary basis by academy manager Simon Davey. In a statement the club said the difference in opinion over strengthening the squad, and ensuring survival in the Championship were the reasons for their decision. "I think he had a kind of blind spot to some extent around the areas we needed to strengthen" Reds owner Patrick Cryne Patrick Cryne spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield shortly after the announcement was made public. He said Ritchie was having difficulties adding to the squad: "We've seen this debate over a long period of time now about what he was doing to strengthen the squad and position ourselves better for survival in this league. "We approached the deadline on Friday over getting new loan signings and the only player on Andy Ritchie's horizon is Cadermarteri [Danny], and it's unclear whether Cadermarteri's actually fit. "So that's a disappointing position to be in, at a time where we're seeing deteriorating performances on the field.
