If we leave the Eu and flights to the continent become too pricey.. Those dying sea side resorts would suddenly become popular again... Now thats a boost to the economy.
Couldn't beat a week in Blackpool as a kid Fuk knows what we did for 7 days haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Increased flight prices is just scaremongering anyway. Can't remember the EU having any influence on flight prices - surely it's all down to supply and demand. They won't fly half-full planes for too long before the prices come back down. Freddie Laker paved the way for all these budget airlines springing up and they'll have to keep prices reasonable to remain competitive.
The EU won't let their tourist industry collapse. Loads of countries make money simply be being cheap. Bulgaria, Croatia and the like. And the last thing the Greeks need is for that to go tits up too. Still, nothing wrong with Scarborough
Been to Scarborough twice this year and it is getting very shabby. An iconic building like the open air spa is crumbling on the outside and it's not alone. It's still a fantastic place to be if you don't look too closely, but it's a shame that a bit more can't be invested in sprucing the town up a bit. I used to go as a kid all the time, but I never noticed things like that then, obviously.
Familiy of 2 adults and 2 Kids travel to Spain, spend at least a grand in one week. Not sure the EU would want to make the flight prices prohibitive.
As someone mentioned above, Scarborough is getting very shabby. I love Scarborough to bits, always have done, but it's so sad to see how so much of it has gone to the dogs recently, e.g. the Futurist theatre. A total shambles, unused, unloved, in a dreadful state of disrepair. We used to see all the top stars there many years ago, Ken Dodd, Mike Yarwood, Black and White Minstrels, etc, but it is now under threat of demolition to make way for some shitty trendy amusement theme park, or summat like. Tourism in Scarborough has sadly died, apart from day trippers, bank holidays and summer breaks. Even the funicular cliff lifts have all but gone. Symbols of Scarborough no longer there. At least they have renovated the Northstead Manor Gardens open air theatre and now have top artistes. The worst thing for me is that they've completely, totally and utterly fecked up the Marine Drive by dumping millions of tons of rocks by the sea wall from the North Bay to the harbour to "protect" against the sea. Gone are the days of watching the rough sea crashing over the Drive, running from the waves and getting soaked by the huge seas. So called progress.
