Pulling the town and its people down,It's his favourite thing I'd guess. Not the first post he's made similar to this. Just ignore him. Think he's an offshoot off Tyrone. Don't know why he dunt just move away if he's got that much of a downer on Tarn and its people.

My walk to town consisted walking through a stench of dumped waste dogshite empty beers cans and the smell of unwashed bodies before dodging a large gang of Romanians coughing up their lungs and hawking it up over the pavement while continually staring at my missus like a bit of meat.I then had to work through the stumbling piss heads/smack rats/scroats along peel street arguing about where to hide from the bobbies so they could get off their faces.

It's quite difficult to not to put a downer on it. What's positive about watching barnsley slowly rot away?

It's easy to slag Sheffield off as being a shithole but while we are doing that parts of our own town will soon start to become a ghetto like Paige hall.

Still you continue calling everyone who doesn't agree with your point of view a Tory sympathiser...

Eh,Where on this thread have I slagged Sheffield off or any other place off or called you a Tory sympathiser?
I walk through Tarn Centre everyday weekdays mornings. On Mondays the Bin men and other clean up teams are active, as are the window cleaners.A good job too as the mess that some weekend revellers leave behind is disgusting, mainly the various take away wastes and their packaging, vomit and other stuff. I wonder who these weekend revellers are?

and are so totally naive to think that Barnsley is the only place with such problems

Fella come down to Wales and go into Swansea and Newport... two of their major cities... it makesTarn look like Beverley hills. So gi'oer and look at bigger pictures.

I saw plenty of that around Covent Garden last week. Sadly, it's everywhere.

It's terrible mate. I went to college there 10 years ago n hence had plenty of time "hanging" round. Playing pool n browsing in shops, it has never been great but never felt particularly unsafe.

I went in a couple of months back on a Friday late afternoon and couldn't wait to get out. People hanging round drinking on the street and near Browns car park where I'd parked, and peel square had its usual cliental.

How anyone can criticise you for simply stating town centre is a **** all, I don't know. I'm proud to come from Barnsley but apart from pound lands, bakery's and pubs there is no reason to go there shopping. (Frank birds being the exception) And I wouldn't dream of drinking there in the day with my GF, it would have to be Sheffield instead. It's like the walking dead at times in town centre.

If barnsley people shopped in Barnsley the type of shop would improve and more investment made. If we go to meadowhall or shop on line then barnsley town centre goes down hill. Same at Oakhill no fans no club. So don't slag barnsley off and do something to help it prosper or piss off somewhere else.

People aren't going to start going back until they feel safe there though?

I love Barnsley. But surely peel square should be safe to sit down and have 10 minutes relaxing, rather than having to keep your head down and avoid the people that generally loiter around that area? Build it and they will come...

Not sure why anyone would not feel safe in Peel Square. I'm not a massive fan of Barnsley town centre. But it's about as scary as a vampire with no fangs that's allergic to blood.
