IMO not a good move mate. The dept of employment will not react too kindly to you when you go to sign on. Infact you won't get any help for about 3 months even then you might only get half unemployment money.

Best get out there and find something fast. If Norfolk is anything like Dundee you will struggle. Just no jobs here ATM.

    Good luck to you.

Brave - life's too short if you're not enjoying it. I walked out last year as the place was so toxic it was making me ill. Took time out to get my health - life back together then started doing a few odd days. Offered a short term role which I start after half term. There are jobs out there - get your cv on a job site - I've had a few offers from them. Good luck - it'll work out

Cheers for the support. Just had enough, colleagues complete two faced sheisters, power mad boss, dodgy deals flying about and everyone in it for themselves. Looking forward to stay at home dad duties for a while but have fired off 4 applications already this afternoon!! Will all seem so much better come an away win tomorrow!

My job finishes next Thursday unless I get another contract. I've just posted my CV to apply for a job in De Dar land.
So after 4.25 years I could be traveling South on the M1 instead of North.

But we don't know his financial situation or his abilities in the workplace.

If he was a tesco worker living on the breadline then it might be foolish. An architect with 500k in the bank, not so foolish.

Good on you mate, if waking up in the morning to go to work is starting to be a chor and getting you down then you've done right thing. You can't get far without money but you can get further being happy in life.

Hats off to you old lad

That really depends on his circumstances though. If his missus is working and he can afford it for a while then thats different. It's not as though you get much on JSA anyway. I got made redundant in Oct, £71 a week on JSA wouldn't go very far if I hadn't got a decent pay off. I was ready for walking out but given the situation of the company I held on until I was forced out.

Quick update on the employment status. Work still gonna pay me what they owe including holiday pay. Sod signing on (other than for NI reasons). Money to live on for a couple of months. Interview this morning which seemed to go well. Saving a fortune on childcare for the nipper. Out the bottom three. Still smiling. But don't get the 'second series' post or am I being a numpty?!
