Made before his untimely death from Motor Neuron Disease . He was voted as Celtic's greatest ever player(above the likes of Kenny Dalglish , Henrik Larsson & my Grandad !)by the fans . Even Rangers stalwarts like John Greig , Sandy Jardine , Alex Ferguson & Willie Henderson were speaking with great affection and admiration for the little man .
It got me thinking about some of Barnsley's greatest sons and of how we should appreciate them whilst they are still with us . While my own personal favourite players were Ronnie Glavin , Pat Howard & Mick Butler ( in that order ) , I would have to choose Eric Winstanley as the greatest , living Red . A big man who is Barnsley through and through as a player , caretaker manager , youth & first team coach . A true legend .
His son in a wonderful , lion hearted person too .

    Jinky was a legend

The scenes up here when he passed away were amazing. Celtic and Rangers fans side by side mourning a true gentleman of football.

It was my mother's funeral the day before The Play Off Final

So this weekend has been one of mixed emotions for me . Perhaps that's why I feel we should appreciate what we have .

    I hope you're coping

The first anniversary is always the hardest, not that it gets any easier in my experience.

Your kids are a credit to Crystal, they're very mature, and seem to have a great understanding of the world, better than mine infact!!

    Nope

Home games are OK, I've decided I'm not gunna be lazy anymore!!

I can easily travel down early Saturday morning and back Sunday morning without a problem.

Plus, I need to beat last seasons record of 20+ matches :)

    I'm confident that

We'll sign a better standard of defender this summer .

    I hope we do

We seemed to have been linked to a few players already! The papers up here have mentioned us quite a few times.

What was the name of your old man who played for Celtic?

    Are we ?

Spill the beans , then , with regards to some names .
His name was William Loughlin ( he died in 1945 or 1946 ) and he was on Celtic's book in either the 1890's or 1900's . I don't know whether he made the first team or not . As well as playing professional football , he was also a docker both in Glasgow and , before that , in Belfast (where, apparently,he played for Belfast Celtic).

    Quality stuff

I'll remember that for Tuesday in work. :)

    Erm, let's see...

We've had that Peter Levin, Scott McDonald who has now signed for Celtic!! Richie Foran before he went to Southend, and even Jason Scotland was tipped for a move to "established Championship outfit Barnsley"
