quote 'we need to win games' well, why Mr Davey are we playing 4-5-1 every match then? to me that isnt how you win football matches.
Classic quote from Davey.. "People will think that this was a heavy defeat but for 75 minutes it was only 2 -1"! Personally, I think that says all that needs to be said about Mr. Davey.
It would be if this toothless approach made us tighter at the back - if we were keeping clean sheets we'd be picking up points. Unfortunately the switch of formation has not only cost us a striker but we've actually shipped more goals than we did playing 4-4-2! The system isn't working and must change.
To be fair We shipped those late goals yesterday because we switched to three at the back and tried to chase the game - sadly this is a task we are often faced with. Quite a few teams have "picked us off" this season both home and away. The goals against Derby were both mistakes - and not the result of "negative tactics". Getting the first goal is absolutely crucial - when we go behind in a match, we have little hope of recovery.
RE: To be fair
And therein lies the problem.
4-5-1 is not setting out to take the lead. When we play this way and concede and we're chasing the game. As we push forward, any team with a bit of pace will exploit us easily and we will go further behind.
Despite the stick Davey got for pushing Howard wide left, we were a far more competitive proposition IMO, playing 4-4-2 than we are now, and for me, Howard, Togwell, McCann, Devaney is our strongest midfield.

Earlier in the season We were capable of coming from behind (Hull, Colchester to name 2) but now the heads drop. Brilliant quote though about it being 2-1 for 75 mins, wonder if the A.C. Milan manager said the same about the European Cup final - "people think we lost this on penalties, but we were 3-0 up at half time"!
I would have said It was 2-1 for 3 minutes. We scored in the 79th minute & it took them a whole 3 minutes to restore their 2 goal lead.
This "outside the game" quote Was AR not the first to utter it earlier in the season when things started going tits up and he was getting some stick?
RE: don't think so AR did say that and he also said it when he had his contract terminated at Oldham.
I also know of a coach at Oldham who said that AR does have that attitude. Perhaps the fact that AR wasn't talking to Shep or Patrick last season reflects that.

So the coach returns as soon as Ritchie is attacked Coachman appears. Shepherd was the one that said the thing about outsiders in relation to the fan who emailed him. It was in his response to that email. How do you see the rest of the season, now that davey has had longer this season than Ritchie and we are now conceding more goals and scoring less ?
RE: So the coach returns Obviously going to be very difficult but thats what we all knew as we left Cardiff.
The Southend, Palace and Leicester games will I think be the key games now.
I hope Disco can come back refreshed and give us an edge.I think we have missed him, but I'm not convinced that we could hold onto a 4 goal lead the way the defence are playing.
Failure to bring players in to the Club pre-season and a manager who thought his squad were good enough to keep us up has been our undoing. Where were the players yesterday who not so long ago were being touted on here as being the answer to our problems when Davey left them out?
I don't think any of our defence are good enough for the Championship and their inability to defend 1 v 1 situations is a joke. I wouldn't want to start a League 1 season with any of them and if we do stay up the priority has to be a new back four.
I still think we will stay up but I wouldn't put any money on it.
Oh, and I don't think Spartacus was attacking AR, he pointed out a fact.

RE: So the coach returns Why are you convinced that it was the manager that didnt want to bring in players, when the club its self has published a list of players that he wanted to sign?? I remember all the fuss about them going to Bradford, Burnley etc.
RE: So the coach returns Go on then who were they and why did he get the sack for a lack of ambition, or was it a lack of realism in the players we can afford to sign.
There was a lot more to his sacking than the official line. The fact that a manager wouldn't talk to his employers should tell you some thing. If you stopped communicating with your boss how long would you keep your job?
