How on earth were we not 4-0 ahead before they scored? There were some pretty easy chances thrown away there. I’m looking forward to watching the whole match on iFollow but Deary me! Watching that two minutes clip was painful
So have I. We should have at least been 3 up. Last year we had that ruthlessness when finishing, we need it now if we want to go up.
Said at match that we’d pay for all the missed chances. Still can’t believe how many we had and squandered.
Should be hitting the ball harder for me ( and the target more) there were some gilt edged there that we blew, at least if we hit them harder they might at least come back off the keeper if they didn’t go into the net. Think it speaks volumes for the managers confidence in our striking options that there wasn’t at least one change up front at some stage.
That one by Phillips was the worst for me. We were 4 on 2 and it was put on a silver plate for him. Either stroke it in at the near post or break the net with it. Last year’s Adam Phillips would have blasted it over the keeper’s head and into the roof of the net. That was the tame effort of a player severely lacking confidence. Hopefully it comes back soon.
I bet Evatt doesn’t mention any of that in his summing up (not bothered to look for it). It will be “dirty Barnsley stopped our flowing football again”.
Personally thought we were lucky not to be 3-1 down from their set peices and corners in the first 20 - 30 minutes. that header from the 1st corner was uncontested and he put it wide, not long after did it again. after that we could have had 4 easy but North Yorks is spot on...hit the chuffin thing
That’s the worry. They had Collins and Bodvarsson to bring on whilst we had Cosgrove and Watters who he obviously didn’t trust to make any impact.
Why the worry mate, just one them things today, for instance I reckon McAtee scores with that chance he had 9 times out of 10 but he had a poor first touch, it happens. Overall a good point today and we are making chances which is a good thing in my eyes.
Agree mate but it’s a real shame we couldn’t loan out Watters and bring in another striker in the window.
In fairness... we've been significantly outperforming our xG this season. i.e. scoring more goals than the chances would suggest we should have. Just an off day in that sense hopefully.
Not sure why we just dropped 2 points against a team competing for top 2. Now 6 points behind with a game in hand. Just can’t see that amount of points being dropped.
Well, I saw the whole match replay this afternoon and there was a hell of a lot of good football played by us there but some shocking misses. How many times was a player through with the whites of the keeper’s eyes in clear sight only for that player to tamely stroke it at the keeper, or wide? Too many times, far too many. Bolton were the on-pitch image of their thuggish manager with the worst display of gamesmanship I’ve seen in a long time. And that clown with the whistle fell for it every time, while ignoring a load of blatant fouls on our players. We should have won at a canter but, in the end, were lucky to get away with a point and (hopefully) no injuries. Everything was stacked against us so I’m grateful for the single point while, obviously, disappointed not to get all three.
I don’t think our home form is going to improve ,the way we play is suited to playing away, which means we ain’t gonna make the top 2.
Maybe we’ll go on a run from next Saturday of home wins to the end of the season. It’s not impossible
