I know it's late but I've been a bit tied up all week with one thing and another and only noticed it was on Player last night so I decided to have a look at it this morning. Finally finished watching it about an hour ago. I didn't go by the way, so I was keen to see if what everyone said about it was true.

It was, big time! You can cast doubts about Wigan's commitment of course but that doesn't take anything away from some of our football, which was sublime. So many clever passing movements, so many tricks and flicks. So much to admire - even the relatively simple things. Our fans at the far end might not have noticed that ball from Mawson to Scowen near the end where he pinged it across field, barely looking up, and it floated straight onto Josh's toe. He killed it instantly and set off running. I love things like that. It shows me that we have footballers at our club who can do the basics very well.

It probably took us until the half hour mark to really get going, but it was champagne stuff all the way after that. I wonder if the Wigan fans were surprised just how good we were? Or maybe they didn't care.

Just one more point about the referee, and the sending off. We've complained game after game about the referees we've had this season but this one was almost invisible. No contentious decisions, no hysterical waving of cards, no attempt to hog the limelight. Well done ref on all of that. The sending off though was just stupid on the Wigan player's part. He obviously took exception to Hammill's bit of showboating and lashed out at him. It could have been an injury-producing tackle but luckily Adam skipped over it. Hard to understand why, with a minute of the season to play, he chose to get himself a three-match ban for the start of next season. He gave the ref no choice really but some might argue it was a bit harsh, especially considering some of the treatment that Hammill has had this season.

I've read a few posts from Wigan fans that were very complimentary about us and the way we played. One even suggested that we were the best team they had played this season. I think we'd have beaten any team in the league on Sunday.

I agree, I thought the ref had a very good game on Sunday.
