I wasn't sure what to expect from The Kaisers, but I have to say that live they're one of the best bands I've ever seen. Great sound, great energy and a fantastic stage show. Will definitely be going to see them again. New songs seemed like a bit of a mixed bag mind, but will need to hear them again before I make my mind up.

Friendly Fires - queueing for beer but didn't sound very exciting.

The Young Knives - very impressive despite all of them looking like fat Woody Allens. Will definitely be seeking out some of their stuff.

Kate Nash - great voice but I'm not sure whether her material is suited to a large arena. Would have preferred to see her in a small club, sitting at a table drinking cognac.

The Enemy - what an over-rated pile of ****. Very ugly children shouting along to songs which sound like The Jam wrote but then rejected due to them being far too bland for anyone to want to listen to them. Oh, and once again, possibly the ugliest set of people I've ever seen on one stage.

Leeds songs - very annoying. Made me really hope they lost the play-off final. I wore a BFC shirt.

Chavs throwing beer around - must be a new phenomenon at UK gigs as not seen it before, though it is a while since I'd been to a concert in England. Not clever, not funny. Beer is for drinking, not for covering me, my wife, or anyone else who happens to be in the way.

Clinically obese people - not sure if it's Kaisers fans, Elland Road or just Leeds in general, but NEVER have I seen such a large collection of dangerously overweight people in one place. Spent quite a lot of The Enemy set photographing them as I wanted to make sure I hadn't walked into a Beryl Cook (RIP) painting by mistake. Of course, the queue to the chip van was a prime spot, but this became a bit dangerous when a near-riot ensued after they ran out of chips.

Overall though, a great day out despite the coldness and the flying beer. Roll on REM in August!

I've seen the Kaisers many a time down south and have always been impressed, in fact I saw one of their first ever gigs down here with only a tiny crowd.

But its always been slightly soured by their Leeds Utd affiliations. Luckily down here they limit it to a scalf on one of the speakers, but I genuinely can't think of anything worse than seeing em at Elland Road, mainly for the reasons you mention.

And I think you're doing Beryl Cook a disservice with that comparison!

Never seen beer being thrown around the crowd????

Its all i have ever seen at Oasis, Greenday, RHCP, and numerous festivals. More annoying when it lands on you and it doesn't smell or look like beer!!

At the end of the day, I don't have a problem with them being Leeds fans. They're Leeds blokes who support their local footy team. But with all the chanting and singing that was going on, you'd have thought they were about to play in the Champions League final, not the alehouse playoffs. I paid to go to a concert, not a Leeds Utd fan convention, which was what it felt like at times. Still a class gig though. As for the fatties, maybe Chris Moyles had planted them in the audience to make him look a bit slimmer.......

I've been away a long time mate, that was my first gig in the UK for a good 5 years I'd say, and first big outdoor concert since I left school. The Russians are much better behaved!

Leeds fans were very annoying, they were at it all day, and all way through the concert. Glad they lost!

The bar situation was shocking. I know its always going to be busy, but there were three lager machines behind each bar, but only one of them working most of the day. And the number of people climbing over the chairs to just push in was really pissing me off.

Missed most of the warm ups cos we didn't get in until late, then spent hours trying to get a beer.

Kate Nash didn't seem suited to that kind of concert. I though Mark Ronson was good though.

I thought the kaisers were ok, but not as good as sheffield arena last year. I thought they could have started a bit slower and built the crowd up a bit. It seemed like they set off a bit fast, but couldn't keep the pace up. Same as you not sure on the new stuff, but I suppose that will change when you hear it a bit more.

It was always going to be a 'Leeds United' gig ..........

........ you can't go to a Kaiser Chiefs concert at Elland Road of all places and not expect to hear the morons chanting Leeds songs, especially the day before the play off final!

I saw them at the Leeds festival last summer (in the mudbath) and whilst they were great, the constant chants of 'we are leeds' inbetween every song is very annoying, but to their credit the band ignored it, presumably for the sake of all the non footie/Leeds fans.

A scrap broke out just in front of us when some lads starting chanting 'we all hate Leeds scum' ....... would have been funny if me and our lass hadn't got showered in ale!

I went and the Kaiserchiefs were brilliant. I also thought the enemy were good aswell tbh, Kate Nash was just screaming and sounded like she was having a tantrum.

Leeds fans were annoying, so glad they lost. Is there any need to sing between every song?

There was a group of lads next to us pissing in pint pots and chucking them back the dirty bleeders.

Our dose of beer was definitely beer, was cold and smelled rank! The guys next to us were absolutely twatted by about 5 o'clock. One of them just whopped his knob out and was about to take a piss when the security guy showed up and asked him what he was doing. The conversation then went something like this....

Pissed Leeds knobhead - "taking a piss of course"
Security - "not here you're not"
PLK - "well where else am I supposed to do it?"

The band were positively encouraging it this time. Not as much as Chris Moyles mind.

I didn't manage a piss, but just a symbolic spitting as I first entered the pitch.

I used to go and watch a band in the 90's called The Bridewell Taxis they were also a Leeds band. It was the same then, all the Leeds chants all the way through proper did my head in

The best way is to record the vinyl directly onto your PC and then burn it to CD. You'lll need to make sure you've got a really high quality record deck to to it from though, preferably a professional one like a Technics.
